Took my boyfriend here for our one year anniversary 2 nights ago. The staff treated us like Gold and the atmosphere was romantic and fancy. The food was out of this world!!! Highly recommend this place and thank you to the wonderful staff!! View all feedback.
What Chris MYOB doesn't like about Avvino:
Was not overly impressed. Food was mediocre for the price. I've experienced better in Rochester for the price point of this restaurant. Cannot say I would go out of my way for a return visit. View all feedback.
Really extraordinary. Great food. Extremely professional and powerful personnel with zero bias. We'll be back. We will. We had bone marrow and roasted beet as starters. Surprising and charming pairing of greens in both cases. Delicious. Nine Gemstone Corma and Pastrami Entrees were worthy and we ate everything. Server Ian was exceptional. Thanks for an unforgettable night.
I was looking for the perfect High End Burger and this place is it!! Cooked and perfectly seasoned, the filled beet was different and delicious. The food was quality and the execution well done. I would recommend this small place to anyone who is looking for a great culinary experience here in Rochester.
Charming small place with a small, well selected menu and a wine list that is worth exploring. Especially because I know the owner for years as a bartender, host and sommelier and knows that she is very serious about her field. Don't let a little down! Even wines ordered by the glass are poured from the bottle at your table. You get warm, almost melted butter for your bread (I hate these hard dishes you have to fight with). The Antiipasto plate had Pate, Prosciutto, Sopressata, several cheeses (the aged provolone and smoked Gouda were my personal favorites) and other accompaniments.... if you are not there for a full meal, it could be worth ordering only THAT at the bar. My steak and Jocelyn's scallops were delicious. Only suggestion for an improvement is that I have a LIGHT dessert (Italian ice cream or chilled fruit) and the available desserts were quite heavy (which seems to be normal in fine restaurants in the USA).... some simple cold raspberries or grapes would have been the right target. I ended up with the chocolate mousse I can't complain about the quality, but it was quite a production with pistachio ice cream (in fact one of my favorites), a generous portion of mousse, and cherries on the ground really worthy of a meal of itself, instead of something to cool off and prepare for the rest of the evening....
We enjoyed a few meals and are very impressed. Very recommended for food, staff and drinks.
The service and food was outstanding. The charred octopus was the best I ever had. Our entrees were spot and and the lemon lavender cake was delicious. We will be back for sure.
