Reading Room - Town Hill

Amazing, wonderful, incredible experience. Best resturant I've ever been to. The food was so good I almost called my dad. It was like a secret world where I got to eat food for the first time all over again. If you have the means for a fine dining experience please go here.

Beautiful restaurant. Great views of the water. We loved the piano music being played. Our food was delicious including the blueberry butter for the bread. Unfortunately our server was very rude and treated us like we were trash. He never greeted us, was very short with us, never checked on us, and did not have any kind words at the end of our meal. No “welcome” or “thank you” or “have a good night”. He was the worst server I’ve ever had and seemingly for absolutely no reason as we were nothing but polite to him. He seemed offended that we only ordered entrees and gave us a very cold shoulder. He was a middle aged man with glasses and black/greying hair. We visited on August 16th. Due to his rudeness I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone. Really a disappointment at a fine dining restaurant. We decided not to order dessert because of our awful experience.

I can’t speak to dinner.. but the breakfast is something I come back to again and again! Best ever pancakes. So so good! Bacon delicious… and if you come early you always get to sit by the window and look at the prettiest view in bar harbor! Love love!

We spoiled ourselves with a meal at the Reading Room for my husband’s birthday. The food and drinks were delicious, staff was great, and live piano music was perfect. They even had a birthday card waiting on the table for my husband, which was a lovely touch. Great upscale dining in Bar Harbor!

All around amazing experience for our anniversary. Cannot recommend enough!
