The food tasted pretty great and we left very full. However, getting a seat here is difficult since they don't take reservations. Be sure to arrive at 6PM (when they just open) if you want to guarantee a seat. View all feedback.
What Sophia V doesn't like about Maria's:
This restaurant is inside the Gran Caribe Resort and a wait is to be expected since it's all inclusive. Since it's all inclusive might as well give it a try. We waited over an hour without a reservation. This is suppose to be a traditional Mexican cuisine but my party and I felt that every food we had was bad. First night we decide to eat dinner here. Once seated we stared w some cold beers, can't go wrong. Good chips salsa to begin with, very good guacamole. Appetizers we tried the Crispy cheese very good didn't like the green sauce tho the sweetness of the sauce didn't go well. The Shrimp tacos these were good so was the Mescaline salad Spicy ceaser salad. main dishes I tried the Grilled chicken veggies got broccoli only this was good nice tasting chicken. The Meat tacos were good so was the Shrimp, all come with lettuce, guacamole cheese piled on very tasty. Some how we manage to have room for desert we tried the Vanilla Chocolate cakes both were good, so was the Flan. Best was the Guanabana ice cream this was delicious. We also gave the special coffee a try this is cool just for the presentation they bring out the cart put on a show fire included .... coffee itself depends on how much u like or enjoy coffee it was ok for me. Nice big restaurant with plenty of seating, typical décor .. service was good our waiter was very nice attentive good authentic Mexican here.
Wow. Not sure why this place is getting a bad rap. Granted, we got to the restaurant early (6:30), so there wasn't much of a line. Beto was our server and was very attentive. He saw our kid was starting to get fussy so he brought over some chicken and rice for our son to munch on while he took our order. I couldn't decide between the steak and the shrimp and even though I ordered just the steak, he came back with a combination platter. The food was delicious. Do yourself a favor and order the dried noodle as an appetizer. We cant wait to go back on Thurs night.

We waited over an hour without a reservation. This is suppose to be a traditional Mexican cuisine but my party and I felt that every food we had was bad. We ordered every single thing they had under their appetizer menu and some of us ordered scallops which was way too salty. Food took forever to come out and we were tired of waiting and asked our server what happened to our food and when the food came out it seemed to be cold.
My wife and I stayed at the Gran Caribe with the all inclusive package for 5 nights, 6 days. We ate at all the restaurants but Maria's had excellent Mexican cuisine. The restaurant fills up quick so it's advised to arrive early. We had an OUTSTANDING server, Ramon (Diablo). He helped guide us through the menu on choice items he thought stood out, which all of his recommendations were spot on. If your in the area, give Maria's a try, make sure you ask for Ramon. He did an unbelievable job and is one of the best servers I've ever had, any where, not just Mexico.
