Went 27/4/18 as a party of 4. We had shared platters of dumplings, eggplant, grilled lamb and rice. So tasty. The service was ok and the platters arrived about 10-15 minutes after ordering. The restaurant was fully patronised before 7pm and was quite noisy so if you have difficulty hearing in noisy environments (as does the author) it may be an issue. The venue is BYO only and corkage was $10 per bottle. The food bil... View all feedback.
What Ana Echevarría doesn't like about Parwana Afghan Kitchen:
Underwhelming menu, ok but not special dishes and third rate service. Incorrect dish initially served, table not cleared for 40 minutes and only after asking. Dessert not offered, and finally refusal of a cup of tea because the table is needed . Many better choices available despite the cult status. Two stars only because I don 't want to appear mean spirted. View all feedback.
Delicious food. the environment and the service unfortunately not so good
Large eating, common plates, plentiful portions and good prices, charming friendly service. food: 5/5 service: 5/5 atmosphere: 3/5 .more
Delicious Afghan food, fast and nice service, great for sharing with friends/family, good for large or small groups and tasty range of drinks and desserts.
The aromas enlightened the senses on arrival. Staff sort to make sure our experience was unblemished and the food was so unusual that we slowed it down to savour every mouthful and enjoy the after-taste. Each dish was different and delicious.A fantastic experience which I highly recommend.
Our experience at Parwana was below par. Looking at the reviews and several online blogs about this place gave us some high expectations. When we arrived and seated, it took forever to get a waiter's attention. We had to get up and walk over to a waiter to request service both times. The waiter are not observant of other customers but tunnel visioned. When we received the food, the presentation was nice with vibrant colors. We ordered the friend dumpling entree, 2 dishes of rice, 2 dishes of meat (chicken and lamb). The dumplings were really tasty and nice, but other than that the meats were too spicy. The bread was served cold rather than warm and was hardFurthermore, the food was more leaning in taste towards indian cuisine rather than traditional. For the serving size and price, I would expect the pricing to be at least 10$ cheaper per dish.I hope this feedback is taken on board to improve the overall experience.
