The Abbot on Eglinton - Toronto

The staff are always incredibly friendly and helpful and I've never felt rushed even during a busy dinner rush. The burger is the perfect size - not too big - and is juicy and tasty. The shepherd's pie is also a delicious favourite and comes with a side of bread and equally as tasty coleslaw. The brunch menu is small but are all good options and the sausages are truly delicious. If you have room try the sticky toffee pudding for dessert - you won't regret it! The back room is a cozy spot with a fire place that is so welcoming in the winter but the front bar and eating area is always lively and with the front windows open in the summer it is a great spot.

Been many times. Have sat at the bar to watch a game. Have also sat in the back with friends. Very comfortable to sit and chat- no loud music. Food is very good. Burgers are my favourite but they have all sorts of entrees from fish and chips to schnitzel. Beef to chicken. All good. Very much the welcome neighbourhood gastropub. Reasonable prices. Very good selection of beer and draft. House wine is just fine. Worth a visit. Actually worth a dozen visits.

We loved this place... it was local to where we were staying and we went there on our first night, we went back on fathers day, and in our last day for lunch..The food is good quality, fresh, nice portion sizes, not huge thank god, and nice fresh veg.The burger was particularly good, as was the club and my kids loved the sticky toffee pudding....What made this place for us was the staff,. The owner Nancy was just lovely, full of local info and so welcoming as were her staff.There was a nice mix of people from families to couples, what I really liked was how kind they all were to everyone that walked in....

The Abbott was, we hoped, to be our local. But it's not really a pub and definitely not a pub restaurant. We didn't order the Sunday lunch of prime rib, Yorkies, mash and veg at $24, but ordered what any good pub should serve up perfectly: fish and chips and chicken pot pie. The fish and chips were okay, not excellent, two generous pieces of cod, excellent tartar sauce. The chicken pot pie was billed as creamy but its sauce was too watery to qualify as creamy, and, while it lacked flavour, it did feature a good flaky pastry top. Both entrees clocked in around the $15 mark. The sticky toffee pudding was tasty and well presented (looked suspiciously like packaged M&S sticky toffee pudding). An appetizer of warmed cheese with baguette was tasty. Where we were really disappointed however was in the Abbott's range of draught and bottled beer. I don't think I've ever been in a pub that did not have Guinness or any other British or Irish beer. As much as we want to adopt The Abbott as our local, we'll be searching for another option.I previously visited the Abbott with a friend for breakfast. It was better than my chicken pot pie, but nothing about it had you thinking you'd want to order it again.

We were in the dining room, and each of us had a light meal. I had a juicy beef burger with coleslaw and fries; everything better than average. The coffee is also quite good. The ambience is agreeable, with vague British hints. This ia a good neighbourhood place, reasonably priced and comfortable.
