One thing we always enjoy here is the presentation of the food. The food itself is great, too, but the presentation, complete with edible flowers, is lovely! I had their smallest sashimi dinner and there was more than enough food for me. A nice wine and beer list, and saki list, rounds out the offering. A bit off the beaten path, but worth it! We loved this place!! I think it was one of the best sushi restaurants in Toronto! Sadly, the property has changed... if it could have happened, unfortunately it was wrong. There is a noticeable depreciation in quality and portion size. The...rice was understated and crisp. I hate to say anything bad about Genji as the service was amazing - some of the best wait staff in Toronto :):) . I arrived with friends to be greeted by several friendly staff members . The decor is upbeat and modern and everything is extremely clean . I was going to order maki rolls (2 types) as a meal . My friends did that and they really enjoyed their meals . At the last minute I decided to order the special bento box instead of my first choice . I should have listened to my intuition . The bento box was not special at all . The teriyaki chicken had little taste and even the shrimp tempura were lacking in taste . The veg dumplings had a little more taste and the California rolls included were delicious . It confirmed that maki is one of their specialties and I should have ordered all maki rolls . Oh well, I paid my bill and will return to try more of their maki rolls . Like I said the service was superb and the free green tea and glass noodles appy are a great addition. No hard feelings Genji - I will return and I'm fairly certain that my friends will too :):):)
It's been a staple in the beaches for years . They had a fire and closed for a few years there back same great service and quality you will love . Enjoy !!
My boyfriend and I had dinner and were absolutely wowed by the fabulous friendly service and the incredible food. We loved everything and it was beautifully presented and reasonably priced. We came back two weeks later and I can see it being a regular thing!
We've been coming for years; waited patiently as they renovated post-fire; so glad they reopened. Friendly, friendly staff, very good food, very nice space. Really do love this place. Lunch and dinner regulars.
