The Tonsina River Lodge is easily my favorite place in all of Alaska. Serge and Elena are wonderful hosts and some of the best people on the planet. The food is outstanding. Russian and American food, as the sign near mile 79 on the Richardson Highway states. What Amanda Miles doesn't like about Tonsina River Lodge:
We just stoped and got out of the truck I was taking a pic of my son in front of the old lodge that my mother always took us to and not 2 sec out of the truck and some Russian guy comes out yelling at us for not asking and coming in side mind you we where on our way in to see if they had pie or something like it and he was swearing at me and telling me his parents raised him differently ....? The Tonsina River Lodge is easily my favorite place in all of Alaska. Serge and Elena are wonderful hosts and some of the best people on the planet. The food is outstanding. Russian and American food, as the sign near mile 79 on the Richardson Highway states. Delicious food and large portions; perfect for fueling up for a day in the great outdoors, or getting your body warmed up and nourished after a long day of play. The rooms are clean, comfortable, and have a lot of character. Serge has personally done a lot of the interior carpentry and finish.
Interesting place along the road between Valdez and Glennallen. Good Russian food, great hospitality.
Always a great time when I stay here. They treat me good with their hospitality and kindness.
