Once again, Thea did not disappoint. The service was exceptional. The food is fresh and made with local healthy ingredients. I have recommended this to everyone I speak to and this experience was no exception. Fantastic. View all feedback.
What Ruth Weber doesn't like about TGI FRIDAYS - Tom's River:
The wait for the bill was too long. The waiters seemed conflicted between providing service and going table to table singing happy birthday. There were many children being loud, which made the noise level a bit tedious. View all feedback.
The starters were excellent !!!!!!!!!! (Brie Brulee incredibly delicious !!!!!!!!!) The beet salad and garden salad were refreshingly cold, crispy, very tasty and an excellent bite. The appetizers? Not so much: crab and prawn noodles had juicy prawns, but the homemade rigatoni were NOT cooked ... like raw batter. The taziki sauce was UNDER everything on the gyro platter and difficult to access to spread over the pita / meat / greens combo and the meat was soft and crumbly, almost like poorly mixed meatloaf. The presentation of the top plate itself was eye-catching, but the arrangement made it difficult to assemble everything. The salmon was fantastic, as were the potatoes and beets, but the greens under it all were too tough and not tasty at all. The blueberry panna cotta was tasteless, but the mousse cake had a heavenly crust. Coffee was strong, tasty, had no bitterness. I would recommend Thea's for amazing starters and a great beet salad, but the starters left a lot to be desired.
Six of us went for a light dinner after a show. We shared starters which were all awesome! My brother had a salad (arugula, beets, beets, pistachios and crème fraiche) that he declared was the best he had ever eaten. Very pleasant, friendly and helpful staff. The only thing missing was a glass of wine and a couple of beers ... it's BYO which we didn't realize.
Very tasty food. Excellent presentation. Friendly staff. Nice ambience. Neat neighborhood scene. Highly recommended. The place has potential.
Thea is a BYOB so be sure to bring a bottle or two! We made different starters and salads instead of making starters. We started with the brie berry salad and the flatbread du jour, a vegetable flatbread. Both were excellent! We then got the beet and rocket salad, the truffle and parmesan fries and the various crustini. These were excellent too, definitely get the parmesan truffle fries !!! We both preferred the beet salad over the brie salad. We then got the Brie Brulée for dessert. Absolutely amazing! A must!!!
This was our second time in Thea and took our son and his wife with us. They ordered the arancini as it came from Tuscany and despite the high bar they loved. My wife had the seafood pasta and we really enjoyed it. Our son had ordered the veal milanese but missed the last one so he chose the chicken milanese and gave it high marks. We shared an orange cheesecake and coffee, all of which were generous and very tasty. The only breakdown in the service was that they lacked chilled white wine "buckets", so we took care of the (byob) bottle with good old ice cream. Otherwise, our server and trainee took great care of us.
