Godewind Restaurant - Tönning

After we were unable to order the “rabbs” as we were recommended, namely on the fish market over the port (they do not serve hot meals past 4 pm we thought we would try our luck at this eccentrically decorated inn. We were glad that we were able to try out this local specialty, but were surprised that the “rabbs” are actually served cold, share a plate with warm agitated eggs and fried potatoes. Unfortunately, the potatoes were made with bacon that I did not eat. I didn't dare to ask for new potatoes without bacon, as our waiter had begun our visit by complaining about an earlier guest who wanted how long her tea bag was steep (which seems like a just enough request for a paying guest, in my opinion. She also told us that we had to eat quickly as the table was reserved in 2 hours. While the food was not bad at all, we did not feel very comfortable or welcomed there. Nevertheless, I really wanted to try the hot chocolate with rum drink called “dead aunt” (the “dead aunt” just because I thought the name was so creepy. This turned out to be the best part of the meal: a huge cup of sweet hot chocolate with 4-6 shots of rum. I recommend sharing one between 2 people!!!!

We drove there last weekend and sat left in a small room – a lot of antiques, everything is in North German style, which makes it quite cozy. The food was good, the portions big – we enjoyed it!

This restaurant has a class and a long history. It is rated as one of the top restaurants in Tönning. Sit outside in one of the beach chairs opposite the small port or in one of the restaurant rooms. It's bigger than it seems. Very popular with a great menu for every taste. Reservations recommended.

This restaurant was visited several times by us and the last visit was disappointing in its food. I hope this was an exception because two of three meals sub par (if I were the type to send back, I would have). Maybe there was a change in chefs or another problem, but the disappointment was huge.

Wir haben nur einen Kaffee getrunken und die nette Dekoration bewundert. Alles ist liebevoll zusammengetragen und arrangiert. Wir haben uns nett mit der Bedienung unterhalten. Bei schönem Wetter kann man auch sehr nett draußen sitzen. Die Lage ist direkt am Hafen.
