I have visited this restaurant multiple times and have always enjoyed the delicious food and great service. Be sure to try the chicharrones, they are amazing. They also have tasty margaritas. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about The Bank Of Mexican Food:
we went here when the waiting time was too long on the incredible 1909 to pass time with drinks and apps. plain and simple,The service is terrible, slow, sloppy and disorganized. I also found out that they have rough events with sexual acts performed by drags, and they know the stabbing and shooting that are the norm here, so def will never need or back to this place. I am relieved that this restaurant is closing down. It feels like karma has finally caught up with them. We had a birthday party there with around 20 people from diverse ethnic backgrounds (Asian, Hispanic, Black), but halfway through our meal, we were asked to leave because one older white man complained about our noise level. This was unfair treatment and it seems like others have experienced similar discrimination. The restaurant showed racism and favoritism instead of treating all patrons with respect. Hopefully, they have learned their lesson.
We stopped by to try out the new menu and were pleasantly surprised! The food was delicious and cooked to perfection. We ordered the new chicken parmigiana sandwich and BBQ chicken sandwich, both of which were excellent. Our server, Megan, was attentive throughout our meal. Chef Brian in the kitchen did a fantastic job with the food and even came out to check on us to ensure everything was to our liking. The new menu is a big improvement over the old one. The atmosphere was relaxed and inviting. We will definitely be back!
We sat in the bar/patio and enjoyed two different Margaritas - the El Jafe and La Chiquita Skinny. I preferred the Skinny one. The food was decent, but the service from Cesar and the ambiance music were both amazing!
After spending the afternoon wine tasting at a nearby vineyard in Temecula, my husband, best friend, her husband, and I stumbled upon The Bank while walking along Old Town Front Street. The albondigas soup was excellent! It's my favorite soup and not many restaurants make it as well, if they even offer it on their menu. Our server, Mia, was friendly and attentive. The only downside was that they were out of sangria, which may be a sign of its popularity. The Bank stays open later than many other restaurants in Old Town, which is a major plus. We will definitely be returning. Delores.
For those with a hearty appetite, I recommend trying the Carne Asada or Carnitas plates. For those looking for lighter options, the Fish Tacos or Grilled Chicken Salad are great choices. Be sure to save room for dessert as The Bank serves the most delicious Flan and Churros filled with Bavarian Cream. Yum!
