After a round the block trip to get to the place due to road works ordered some chicken balls with sweet and sour sauce which came up hot and after a short drive back and still hot. Food was too much and kept half for lunch the following day. Think the chef was Chinese whilst the other side is English View all feedback.
What wayne205 doesn't like about Cavalier Fryer:
Oh my goodness .. my first and last visit .. This has to be the worst meal I've ever had .. soggy calamari .. odd-tasting burnt prawn toast .. tough, overcooked ribs .. greasy chicken balls .. I will never eat this food again. Every time I pass by the Spar next door, I will remember this place with great disdain. View all feedback.
The service at this restaurant can vary depending on who is working the counter, with either a warm smile or a hint of disdain. The fish dishes are consistently excellent, with generous portion sizes and reasonable prices. I always request to have my fish wrapped separately from the chips to avoid any greasiness. The Chinese food can be overly salty and lacking in authentic flavor, but the pancake rolls and prawn crackers stand out as highlights. Unfortunately, the burgers are a disappointment and best avoided. Overall, while this restaurant may not be our favorite, it is convenient and good enough to keep us coming back.

This restaurant is the closest one to me, unfortunately. I'll try to be fair and say that the portion sizes are good and some items, like the sausages and pasties, are tasty. The quality of the chips can vary depending on when you go during the week. The chicken balls are decent. I agree with other reviews about the red curry sauce, it lacks a stronger curry flavor. The curry actually stained a plate and the red color is impossible to remove. If you're near Heathfield, I would suggest driving a bit further to Bovey Tracey and going to Choys. It may be a bit more expensive, but it's worth it.
