Stopped in for lunch on way from Strahan to Hobart. Came in from the cold to a beautiful warm room with a fire burning. The staff were very friendly and the food delicious. We were served very quickly as well. There was no eftpos available in the cafe however apparently the shop next door did and would help out. We had cash so it wasn't a problem for us. Enjoyed our meal in the warmth. View all feedback.
What Aracely Waters doesn't like about Highlander Restaurant & Bar:
Staff grumbled when we came in at 10:15 that breakfast ends 10:30...I interpret that to mean last orders at 10:30, they may be making breakfast until 11. Some people came in after us they probably had conniptions. That said the coffee was fine and the...eggs on toast adequate. the service was a little timid from the asian girls. View all feedback.
Neat and tidy, good variety of cafe food and drinks, wait time was not long. Not over priced. Cons, duck poo right up to front door was unpleasant perhaps management could hose off regularly or find a way to stop the ducks from getting that close to the verandah walkways,
You never know what to expect after driving through some disappointing 'hamlets' but this was delightful. Beautiful food, great service and well worth the slight detour. Such an interesting little place to visit.

We stopped off here for lunch while showing Americans visitors around Tassie. The home made pies were delicious and toasted sandwiches cooked perfectly. The café was sparkling clean with fresh flowers in the ladies bathroom. The staff were friendly and helpful with questions that were asked. A bonus was the ducklings outside having a feed with their mother. Will certainly return.
The township of Tarraleah has a range of accommodation and a cafe for passing lunch trade. Light lunches are served from a limited menu.
