This is our go-to for Chinese takeout. We've been ordering there for years. The food is always really good, fresh and hot. Decent prices. Easy to order online but you pay in person. Don't be dissuaded by its appearance. It's not the prettiest little takeout spot. But it's all about the food. View all feedback.
What Vivian Moore doesn't like about Asia Cafe:
Worst Chinese food I have ever eaten. The spring rolls tasted terrible and were greasy. The sweet and sour shrimp was not good. The sauce had no real flavor and was watery. The shrimp tasted fishy. First and last time I will be trying the Asia Cafe. View all feedback.
I have been buying and eating the food here for 16 years on and off and always noticed how grungy the kitchen is with years of grease build-up and there was one time span when it wasn't all that because the people cooking back the were skimping big time on adding meat to meat and veggie dishes and the meat in the fried rice was bit iffy considering it had a very off-color to it. However, that was just for a limited time and new people came in and the food went back to being good again. Today the food is good, but the prices are getting ridiculous when you can pay $1 more and go to a really nice, clean restaurant just up the street, sit at a nice clean table with a lovely environment with a waitress or opt to do the buffet for the same price and eat all you want, plus have free refills on your drinks.

Love it especially their gravy for the egg foo young
Being new to the Tappahannock area, we looked for a Chinese restaurant and found the Asia Cafe. We've tried several different dishes, the Singapore rice noodles which had no curry, just ginger, and the General Tso's chicken which they make with only dark meat, the boneless ribs appetizer, which were scraps of pork in a heavy sweet sauce, the teriyaki chicken appetizer which was very bland, shrimp rolls, Szechuan shrimp and vegetable fried rice over a period of four visits. The only items remotely edible enough to reorder are the shrimp rolls and the vegetable fried rice. We were hoping to find something they do well, so I thought I'd try General Tso's chicken with white meat and see if it was any better. When I asked for all white meat, I was told it was an additional charge, which is odd since dark meat and white meat cost about the same these days. Oddly, there was NO MEAT IN THE DISH, I mean NONE. They had instead FRIED PIECES OF DOUGHAND COVERED IT WITH SAUCE. That's such a RIP OFF and having eaten a couple of pieces it gave me issues all night. I will tell everyone in town about this and to avoid this restaurant! Hopefully they will go out of business and someone that knows how to prepare oriental food will take their place. We will NEVER GO THERE AGAIN.
