Smokey's Bar & Grill - Tamworth

The food was excellent, service was good and the memorabilia was great to look at. The outdoor deck is excellent for people to catch up and have a drink before having their meal.

Dropped in with friends for dinner and it was a good choice for a casual dinner. Menu had something for all, good selection of meat dishes, seafood & salads. Service was great; table service for meals and drinks. Large open dining area with well spaced seating; still got a little noisy though. Tuesday was a two for one deal which worked out great for us. I had the pork bbq ribs with baked jacket potatoes & salad; Very tasty & tender and I struggled to finish. Others had the barramundi or scotch fillet steak. Loved the meals which were cooked & presented well. Prices were reasonable.

I have eaten at Smokeys a few times but Saturday night 11th feb, was not good compared with previous dinners. First the waitress was unfriendly and would not look at anyone while taking our orders, we tried to make her relax with jokes and a relaxed aproach thinking she might be new, and apparently she was a trainee as we were told as we paid our bill by another staff member, secondlythe meal came out with no vegetables as the waitress didn't ask if we want vegetables or salad, she asked if we wanted extra vegetables or salad,of course we all did not want extra because the meals are a generous size, thinking we would get the normal serve we got on other occasions, we asked as we paid if the menu had changed so that you needed to pay extra for veggies or salad and we were told no, so I guess she didn't ask the way they are meant to, also we had no water on the table until at the end of the meal put there by another staff member, we had to clear our own table as no one came to clear it before dessert ,anyway I hope she settles into her job as a waitress and gets a smile on her face I guess it's not easy to be the new one on the block. I would how ever go back because I know the service is usually much better.

Our latest trip back to "Smokey's" was very pleasant experience. Although the wait staff were inexperienced, they were friendly and willing to please. The food was plentiful and tasty and at two for the price of one (Tuesdays only), it was great value. Not having EFTOST at the bar was a draw back, but the restaurant split the bill, so all was forgiven. The atmosphere was good and not too noisey.

Have enjoyed meals here over a number of years when visiting Tamworth and was very disappointed with tonight's visit. Staff were friendly and attentive but lacking in service standards. Order was taken without giving sauce options of which a number were available for both steak and ribs in the dish. Had to approach staff after order to request this. Table was not fully set lacking condiments, Steak meal was served without a steak knife which had to be requested. Pepper sauce that came with the dish was returned after one mouthful, it had a strong chemical smell and taste reminiscent of Windex or Spray and Wipe, replacement was offered but my stomach had already been turned. Rib sauce was bland and ribs were tough to cut. Steak was cooked as requested which was the one saving grace, however it was not a good cut and was mostly quite tough and chewy. Don't mind paying a good price for a nice meal but have to say I felt it overpriced for what I was served. Sad that I drove through Maccas on the way out of town to get something to try and erase the experience I had here.
