Well we came here for pasta night, They treat you second rate if you are here for pasta night, Which is to bad I tip 20% for great service regardless of what i ordered, I say if you come to support a place in Southern Illinois they should take care of you. My partner took me here to celebrate my birthday. Having lived in the area for a long time, visiting this restaurant has been a goal for many years, and we finally were able to make it happen. We were seated at the bar, and the bartender was super knowledgeable about everything they had to offer. She recited their specials off the top of her head and was able to give a ton of information about each dish. We decided to try the escargot (our first time trying it) and it was SO tasty! The butter left over in the dish was delicious with the bread. For the entrees, my partner ordered a duck breast dish and I ordered the surf and turf. The steak was one of the best I've ever had, perfectly cooked and beautifully tender. The apricot chili jam served with the shrimp was amazing, it was a wonderful combination of spicy/sweet, it was like candy. The duck breast my partner tried was incredible as well, super tender and the sauce was delightful. For dessert, we tried a slice of their homemade ice cream cake. The ice cream had incredible flavors and the crust was an amazing complement to it.Overall, the whole experience was amazing. The bartender was great and the food was phenomenal. I look forward to coming back on pasta nights or on special occasions.
Made a reservation for two and the individual alcoves were so cozy and the atmosphere was fantastic! Our waiter Robert was so understanding and attentive to us, never left us wanting for drinks, making sure we were comfortable, and new the menu very well. The food was delicious and they offered a complimentary ice cream on top of the dessert ordered for my birthday. Highly recommend for a very nice evening out.

Everything was cooked to perfection and was delicious. I had the ribeye, she the barramundi and I think I liked her entre better than my own. I love to cook and instantly worked at recreating the burre blanc sauce that was drizzled over her fish. Best entre I've ever had...and she ordered it. Highly recommend Tom's Place.
