As someone who came up to central new york from down in the city it was very hard to find a good slice here. Mitches is the first pie ive had in 5 years that reminded me of home, yes the strip cuts are a little strange but the flavors are spot on. The best pizza ive had in syracuse and i will be back. Driving up W Genesee St into Camillus, you've likely noticed a car wash across from Michael's plaza. You also may have noticed about a year ago, randomly, a pizza shop appeared in one of the two bays of the car wash. Obviously, I was curious and intrigued. One day, while shopping in Michaels plaza, I had a pizza craving. Seeing as Mitch's was right across the street, I allowed my curiosity to get the best of me. The wife and I decided to order and take home, so we called and got a large pizza with pepperoni and 10 wings, hot buffalo style. We arrived about 10 minutes after we were told it'd be ready and my wife was able to grab it quickly. Obviously, being inside the bay of a car wash, it's a tiny place with few chairs more focused on take out. When we got home, we started in. As soon as I opened it, I just knew I was not gonna enjoy it. What I saw was something that I absolutely hate when pizza shops do....they cut their pizza into rectangles. First off, it just makes no sense not to cut pizza into triangles. But for some reason, any place I've ever had pizza at that cuts their pizza into rectangles is awful. This was no different. The sauce was extremely sweet, the crust was thick and doughy as if it was undercooked, and the cheese just did not adhere to the dough and slid off every single slice with your first bite. The wings were decent, which is the only reason it's getting 2 stars. Could use more sauce, but the sauce that was on it was flavorful and had some good spice and heat to it. The prices were fair, actually a bit cheaper than most fresh made pizza places, but...I suppose you get what you pay for. I would not recommend or come back.
If there was an option for zero stars, I 'd give it that. I was getting my windshield replaced a few doors down at safelite with my two year old. We came in for a quick bite and I ordered three slices and a gyro. We were told it would be a little bit, they looked like they just opened. That 's fine. As our food came out I observed the employee packaging it up and I informed her that we were going to be eating here. She continued to package it up and gave us no plates. I asked for one slice to be cut up a lot for my daughter. It came cut three times. Vertically. Not many two year olds can eat a soggy piece of pizza cut into vertical thirds. Whatever. I can do it. While trying to keep my daughter still across from me in the single seat booths the have , ask for plates, cut her pizza and navigate around other customers, we finally got around to eating. My gyro was decent. Pita overdone. Prepackaged gyro meat. I finally got around to attempting to eat my slices of pizza. They had been stacked on top of each other with wax paper between each. Impossible to get out of the container without ripping the cheese off. Swell. I informed the employee and she seemed confused as to why hot cheese would stick to something placed on top of it. She gave me one new slice that they had in the rotisserie and said it would be a little while for a new pizza. They make one pizza at at a time? Since we 'd been there for 40 minutes already, we left. I wouldn 't have stayed for a good piece of pizza. I 'm definitely not sticking around for a terrible slice.
I can't say that we come here often but fore a change we do come. Very good. Reasonable prices too
Great pizza, wings, prices, and staff. Pretty quick with your order, and it's always right. It's tough for a new place to make it when you have a few places that are entrenched in the community, these guys will make it because they do it right.
Best pizza crust ever! Great food and great service.
