Pezzellas Villa Napoli - Sunnyvale

This was a family birthday celebration for our son (age 44) and grandson (age 12). Per the celebrants' request I made a Birthday Apple Pie which I noted when using Open Table. I also said I'd bring numbered candles to be placed on the pie. Upon our arrival, I handed the pie and a ziplock bag holding the numbered candles to the Hostess, again reminding her this is a birthday celebration. Inside the bag was a note showing the candles. My Mother, my husband and I arrived before the rest of our party (total of 7 diners). Upon being seated a waiter immediately handed only my husband a menu and started discussing appetizers. My Mother and I were ignored. He was told twice we were waiting for the rest of our party. Once everyone arrived, he again discussed appetizers; however, no one had menus. Unfortunately the Hostess only handed out 4 menus for 7 people. Let me add this was a Wednesday night, only 3 other tables were occupied, so she wasn't really busy. Everyone enjoyed their meals. The Hostess never told the waiter or gave him the ziplock bag of candles. When served, two skinny candles were on the pie. The Hostess completely ignored my request. Although no one forgot to charge us $1 pp to serve the pie. I'm throughly disgusted with this inept Hostess will never return to this restaurant.

Disappointed tonight with the veal Marsala. It was not as tender as I expect veal to be. The sauce was excellent . My wife's petrale sole was also excellent. Pezzella's is our favorite weeknight place for dinner.

I've been frequenting Pezzellas for 17 years. Having transplanted form NY originally, this is the best and most authentic east coast Italian food I've found hear in the Bay area. Everyone I've recommended it to, have equally enjoyed the food.

The menu has many options plus specials are offered each day. The portions are generous and the staff is friendly. Still a family favorite.

I liked the people and really wanted to like the food. Perhaps I ordered the wrong thing--chicken piccata, but it was very bland and the pasta was mediocre. Great ambiance if they can up their menu!
