What Curtis Christiansen doesn't like about Angie's Black Angus Restaurant:
I use to come here for breakfast long time ago and it was great. 2nd time coming here for dinner in awhile and it was average. Waitress was nice and orders took right away. Had to wait awhile for the food and there wasn't many people there (both times). Our orders were simple so no reason for the long wait. When food finally came, it was dry, burnt and over cooked. Coffee was luke warm. Highlight of coming here was t... View all feedback.
I stopped in and ate lunch today and left disappointed.First... The good... My cheeseburger had a good-sized meat patty with a piece of melted cheddar on top (not a processed cheese slice.) The meat was moderately tasty and had a nice texture (although I am pretty sure it was a frozen patty.) In short, the hamburger was acceptable. The waitress was pleasant and took my order promptly. The food was delivered promptly and was hot.Next... The bad....a few things! There was a generous serving of fries but they were frozen fries and they were severely overcooked. I usually prefer well-done fries, but these were waaay too overcooked and should not have been served. I ordered beef gravy on the side (for dipping the fries, of course) but was served a light-grey/brown concoction that tasted vaguely like chicken gravy. It was quite tasteless. I asked for sliced dill pickle on my burger ( among other things) and was surprised to discover when I received my bill that I was charged $1.19 extra for the three small slices. I saw no mention of an extra charge on the menu and it made me angry to see it there. I told the waitress that I wasn't pleased with the charge for the pickle slices, but that complaint fell on deaf ears. My total bill for this poor quality meal (including 15% tip) was over $17! Finally... The ugly. The men's washroom was gross! It smelled terrible, was dimly lit, and the paint was peeling off the metal divider walls showing an unsightly mess of rust. I wish I had checked out the washroom prior to eating...I would have turned around and walked out. To sum it up, I was quite disappointed with this restaurant and will never darken it's doors again. You would be wise to find some other place to satisfy your burger craving.
Staying in the immediate area, we decided to try the Black Angus for breakfast. Great special till 11 am. Food was hot and cooked to order. Lots of choices of jams, etc for the toast. It was obviously a neighbourhood place where lots of regulars came to have a "home cooked" meal. Really varied specials of the day listed on chalk board for the entire week.Glass displays held delicious looking baked goods, including butter tarts--just had to buy a couple for later!Only complaint was our server never did come to clear the table or present a bill.
The Black Angus Restaurant is a small homey restaurant that serves up some good tasting homemade food that is fresh never frozen and reasonably priced. I really enjoyed the soup of the day which was red lentle chick pea. I came here for the steak but when I seen the special of the day was fresh grilled pickerel I was sold and it did not disappoint. If you are looking for good food without the frills this is the place

Had the regular steak eggs home fries. The steak was cooked med rare like I like it. It was seated nicely outside and the juices flowed when cut. Very tender indeed. Seasoning right on !! The remainder of the meal was equal to the steak. Would go again
