I had a fantastic meal! The food was delicious, and the service was outstanding. Molly took great care of us. We were welcomed warmly as soon as we arrived, which I always appreciate. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about The Lyttelton Arms:
When we arrived, they were unaware of our reservation, but fortunately, they were able to accommodate us! We had booked through OpenTable, and they mentioned that reservations often don't come through. Just a heads-up on that! Lyttelton House is quite nice; the service was excellent, and the food was good. However, it was very noisy, making it difficult to have a proper conversation. The tables were crammed together,... First time visiting and did not know what to expect. The outside and inside was beautifully decorated. Firstly we were confused of what to do when we first walked in and was looking around wondering whether we were going to be seated for a while. Once we were seated the waitresses were very pleasant and the nice bar man provided us with advice on what cocktail to choose and made them for us, they were delicious. i will be back for cocktails!! The menu and decoration of the place gave me high expectations for the food. The wait for the food was longer than i'd usually wait for restaurant however i assumed this was because the food was probably prepared fresh so we didn't mind waiting. When the food arrived it looked nice on the plates however i wasn't that impressed with the taste , it was ok however due to the decoration and ambient i has higher expectations. Overall i will be returning because of the cocktails and may or may not be trying the food again but choose something different this tie around.
Table was at the back as busy. Bit noisy as party downstairs. Waitress was very good and friendly
Having enjoyed meals previously at The Lyttleton we decided to celebrate our Anniversary, which was a big mistake. We stood a good 10 mins waiting to be spoken to and taken to our seat. We then had another good 10 minute wait until someone came to ask if we wanted a drink. WE were about to get up and leave. Luckily we had decided what we wanted to eat so we didn't have to wait again for someone to come back to us. A few minutes passed before being told my starters was off the menu they'd sold out of mushrooms! My soup was beautiful but the Lobster and Tiger Prawn Pot was nowhere near the size that it looks like on the website. It was about a third of the size which made it expensive. Our meals finally arrived. The fish was hot and beautiful, it was served with look warm soggy chips and look warm mushy peas. I thought the chips were supposed to be double fried for crispiness? I should have complained at the time but I was hungry by this time and I wanted to eat at the same time as my husband, as goodness knows when I would have got a meal again. Had a waitress come and checked if we wanted another drink or to check if all was ok, I would have complained! We then ordered a coffee and mini dessert. The coffee finally came. It was quite a long time after we had finished our coffee, that our mini dessert was served! Guess what? The bill came quicker! I didn't want to upset my evening by causing a fuss but we were pleased to get out! There was not enough staff on for a very busy Saturday evening. We were very disappointed with the whole experience.
Nice food, nice venue poor mgmt (not poor service per se) but just really poor planning hence insufficient staffing on sat lunchtime Took 1 5hrs to get mains , manageress listened , refunded most of the meal real shame as I imagine this would be a lovely place with the right staffing
Excellent service. Nice place. Seats a little uncomfortable. Good good.
