Wonderful authentic Portuguese atmosphere! The place is already bustling with patrons. The lunch special was great and reasonable. The sirloin was soft and juicy and the livers perfect. I also liked the potato chips. The waiters are very friendly, but a bit slow. The coffee was tasty, but unfortunately cold..... The cup was also half full (at least not half empty : View all feedback.
28.08.2019 Craving some good homemade type Portuguese food? Look no further Pretoria Peeps, @Portugalo has come to the rescue.<br/ <br/ Situated in Brooklyn Square, it has a nice cozy setup, with inside and outside seating – perfect for the upcoming summer months. A group of us got treated to a variety of items off the menu for starters, mains and dessert, and all recipes used were handed down from Mothers to daughters within the family.<br/ <br/ On arrival we were welcomed with a shot of Ginjinha, although mixed reviews on the taste, I kinda liked it. Thereafter, we had some Portuguese wine that they have on the wine list – Mariana Branco. It’s a white wine with notes of green apple, citrus fruit, and tropical flavours, so its fresh and fruity.<br/ <br/ Now onto the food, we practically ate the entire menu if you see the list below <br/ <br/ Starters:<br/ <br/ •Prawn Rissoles absolutely delicious, you can taste the prawn meat inside it's not just filled with sauce.<br/ •Fired Up Chourico it was definitely on fire.<br/ •Grilled Sardines although tasty it had way too many bones for easy eating.<br/ •Portuguese Style calamari yummy<br/ •House Style Mussels didnt taste this<br/ •Chicken Giblets/Livers sorry I dont eat these<br/ •Portuguese Salad – lettuce, cucumber, tomatoes, red onions, black olives and Portuguese dressing<br/ <br/ Mains:<br/ <br/ •Pork bean Stew great flavour<br/ •Portuguese Tripe no thanks I stuck with the normal stew.<br/ •Pork Loin with Clams didnt try this.<br/ •Prawns who doesn't love prawns??<br/ •LM Baby Chicken honestly you can leave me with a plate of chicken with the Milho frito and I'm good to go.<br/ •Milho Frito my favorite with the chicken and my new found love their Peri sauce.... Amazing.<br/ •Round Potato Fries spicy and carblicious<br/ • Whole fish probably one of my favourites for the evening perfectly spiced, juicy and tender.<br/ <br/ Desserts:<br/ <br/ •Pasteis de Nata who can resist them when freshly baked and that smell just tempts you. We could have eaten many more...<br/ •Chocolate Mousse Pudding<br/ •Heavenly Cream Fluffy cream mousse and ‘Maria’ biscuits topped with homemade custard. Loved munching on the Marie biscuit to end off my meal.<br/ <br/ Stuffed like chickens, we were properly spoilt for choice with food and drinks.<br/ <br/ The staff were all friendly and helpful during the evening, and they all ready to serve you on arrival.<br/ <br/ Thanks to everyone for a lovely evening of good laughs, great food and drinks.<br/ <br/ #TheFoodMusketeer<br/ #TheFoodMusketeerEats<br/ #TheFoodMusketeerDrinks<br/ #TheFoodMusketeerApproved<br/ #TFMPortugalo<br/ Kriya Gangiah
Really enjoyed their 'Date Night ' special. Good value for money with a 3 course meal and bottle of wine. Good portions and fresh tastes made each dish an experience. Our friendly waiter was attentive but was a bit overwhelmed at the end as the venue started to fill up and became very, very busy.
Had the lovely pleasure of dining in this restaurant for lunch. Beautiful atmosphere. The staff is quite friendly. Wonderful place for solo and couples dates. They have a date night special running which comprises of a three course meal and complimentary bottle of wine for only R390 per couple
