Wrights Traditional Fish Chips

This is a traditional fish and chip shop, justifiably proud of its gluten-free offering. I saw the potatoes fried in a separate vat, the fish with the gluten-free batter was fried in the same vat- and the non-gf fish was fried separately. The guys behind the counter knew their stuff about gf food. Portions are generous- large means large! This shop is located just outside the centre of the town of Saffron Walden- an easy 15 minute walk from the centre if you don’t have a car. Important: there is no seating inside. It is a takeaway but there are a few seats outside.

They sell a huge range of gluten free battered fish, sausages, chips, battered gherkins and even pineapple frittatas They are very well informed about gluten free, quick and cheerful service separate hot hold and friers for GF

Good knowledge of cross contamination risks.

Good food. Dedicated fryer. Staff helpful.
