What Mattie Dibbert doesn't like about Kyma Greek Restaurant:
I came here with a group on my way to see the penguins nearby on Valentine's Day night. I tried ordering three different things which they they told me they were all out of and finally was able to order some type of ground beef hamburger patty thing covered in tomato sauce. It had a Greek name, but let's call a spade a spade. There was only one other couple in there that night so I'm trying to figure out why they wer... View all feedback.
How in the hell had I not been here before, despite living right nearby I will never know.
Started with their Greek salad Generous portion Nice selection of greens, Spanish onion, olives, tomatoes and cucumber.
We had a booking for Sunday night which we received a confirmation email of on Saturday. However when we arrived the restaurant was completely closed. It looked as though it had been closed for a while with a stack of mail under the door. Beware if booking this restaurant online as it doesn't seem to be trading and the phone has a busy signal.
I can see from the previous reviews that Kyma is supposed to be one of the best Greek establishments in Melbourne? Mmmm………..Can’t see it? or we just got a bad night. Started out with dips, no complaints, very nice. Olives and fetta, fine, Greek salad, fine, then the souvlaki, very small skewers and dry. Foodie mate 2 was so excited about some Greek octopus and so disappointed when it arrived. Really tiny portion, not charred in the least, tasted stewed, not impressed. Seafood Saganaki, good serve, but again, average in flavour. When we enter a Greek establishment like this one, we expect nice big bold juicy flavours, like you would expect at a Greek family gathering! Unfortunately, not so.Service was good. However, it was a bit cold in the restaurant and no one seems to turn heaters on anymore! Probably wouldn’t return next time I'm in Melbourne.
Fitzroy Street going north from the St. Kilda pier was said to be a bustling place to walk and have a great meal. This restaurant has good reviews, but NOT ANYMORE. The street is now a slum, closed shops and eateries, the remaining restaurants (including Kyma) are empty, most menu items not available and food can't even be called fair.
