We have lived here for several years and just discovered this lovely restaurant. The food was delicious, the wait staff attentive, price reasonable and the live guitar player was quite good, keeping the music low enough so we could hear each other talk. Just had to share. What Paula H doesn't like about Café Alcazar:
Just. So. Cold.Nice server, lovely piano music, pretty decent food...bad coffee...but..all that is good is completely overshadowed by the fact that the place is absolutely FREEZING COLD. Everyone in our party of eight, including the burly men, were so cold it was hard to enjoy the meal. Yes, it's a converted swimming pool, but it is hard to believe something could not have been done to warm the place up...adjust the... View all feedback.

The carpet was a little worn, but the owner who came by our table to see how everything was said new carpeting was being installed that following weekend. This place is a wonderful find!
The Cafe Alcazar was a dining experience....A unique venue..lunch in the bottom of a swimming pool...The service was terrific. Our waiter was professional, helpful and friendly. The menu is eclectic. The Cafe has something for every taste. I thought the clam chowder was great. Everyone at our table enjoyed there food. I would recommend it for lunch. The hours are limited from 11 to 4.
Hands down the best meal we had in while in St. Augustine! Red Snapper was cooked to perfection accompanied by excellent rice and veggies, followed by out of this world homemade cheesecake. Prices were extremely reasonable on top of which they gave us a 10% discount for having visited the Lightner Museum. Knowing we were dining in what used to be the world's largest indoor swimming pool made it even more enjoyable!
The Café Alcazar was once known as the worlds largest swimming pool in its day. Now empty, some genius decided to use it as a dining location Enjoyed lunch with friends and would definitely recommend that visitors to St. Augustine, Florida try to have a meal here.
Excellent service. Food was exceptional. Pulled pork special was tasty with new flavors. Atmosphere unique eating in the bottom of the pool. Nice live guitar music played. Will recommend to others.
