Very quirky restaurant serving quite a variety of freshly prepared food at a really good price. We went with friends when there was a fabulous soul duo on singing loads of great songs and we got up and had a little dance too. Food was lovely served by very friendly staff and delicious. Sadly I couldn’t eat it all and had no room for dessert which is most unlike me but we did stay all evening and had a brilliant time.... View all feedback.
What Ibo88 doesn't like about The Hungry Monk:
Remembered this place as somewhere to get generously portioned, tapas-style food. Now it will be remembered for the longest ever wait for a jacket potato! The menu was really overfacing with far too much on it and our food took nearly 40 minutes to arrive. My wife's jacket potato was served in a metal bowl you'd expect to have sizzling fajitas in and my goats cheese sandwich was so enormous that I'd have been happy wi... View all feedback.
I like this pub in a few off-time, while in southport was just during the day tho so had not the chance to watch the live bands when we were.
Large pub and atmosphere various selection of live music about the changing, large beverage selection and cheap.
In general, I am a great fan of nautical-themed places, especially nautical-themierte pubs and bars. in fact, my favorite pub is all over the world.
Delicious food, friendly and helpful staff, we enjoyed our experience so much that we returned the next night and were once again impressed. This restaurant is truly a wonderful place to dine.
We stumbled upon this restaurant by chance, but it turned out to be an amazing discovery. We were greeted warmly and given a menu that seemed never-ending. I decided to try the chicken skewer, which came with flatbread and salad, as well as a choice of potatoes or rice. I opted for the dauphinoise potatoes and they were a delicious meal on their own. They consisted of tender sliced potatoes topped with cheese, and were absolutely tasty. My husband went for the gammon, topped with two fried eggs and served with salad and a choice of potatoes. He went for chips. We normally skip dessert, but I couldn't resist the Nutella and Crunchie sundae, while my husband chose the apple and blackberry crumble with custard. The service was excellent and very welcoming, and the food was exceptional. I highly recommend this place. We will definitely be returning for more.
