What User doesn't like about The Duck On The Pond:
should be zero stars due to the fact that the location at the arrival was closed and no sign of it opening. a 70 miles long trip. no communication from opentable or the duck on the pond to say it would not be open. View all feedback.
We have therefore booked a table about open table, received an email confirmation that was posted on our half hour drive, arrived at the restaurant to close it just to receive a text message 15 minutes later to say this. not a great start to our Saturday evening, as then had to go to leamington to turn off from 2 other restaurants that were fully booked to finally sit at 8:30 a.m. for dinner. next time, we'll call them directly. they usually enjoy this restaurant so much disappointed to reflect this in the parties.
Had booked a table for 4pm about 10 days earlier but only got told that they stopped serving at 4pm about 90 minutes before we were due to eat. We’ve eaten at the Duck on several occasions but the food was poor this time. I’m not sure if it was because we ate ‘late’ but we were disappointed. Our other meals there have always been significantly better. The staff did their best to make it a pleasant experience but everything felt a bit rushed. Hopefully, it’s a ‘one off’ and they will be back at their normal standard next time we eat there
Get together lunch on a Saturday with friends. Staff were very pleasant and attentive. We were the only table so it was very quiet. Good food.
May have been fine if they had more staff on a saturday night. massive potential but seems like a lack of experience ruins it, waited hour and 20 for 3 burgers, ended up being burned and dry. with other bits undercooked had to go to the bar for our drinks as no one came over the whole hour to check on us or explain where the food was, we could regularly see them behind the bar. We were also not the only table waiting for ages for food, or drinks, we actually had people come in after us and have 2 courses before we got burgers. I would put it down to a bad night but on this occasion it more represented a weatherspoons than a gastro pub sadly. I will happily amend my review if i go there again and its is better.
