Chubby's - South Somerset

Nice enough staff. Food was quick.....Salad was good.....Veggie burger was tasteless and bun was soggy....chips were fried within an inch of their life..... Doner kebab was good.......

As an exercise in overall value, we decided to try this place, because it is the closest pizza shop to our house. Previously, we'd travelled to Yeovil or Taunton, to major brand pizza shops, but the cost of fuel suggested that it would be sensible...to try the local provider. They have a special offer outside, offering any pizza of a particular size for a fixed price. They are true to that offer and we have now been back a further three times. The quality of the food seems constant and the value is fine. No more travelling more than twenty five miles to get pizza!

Chubby's restaurant is limited to accepting cash only because of the lack of infrastructure on their side of the street, as their card machine never connects. Despite this inconvenience, I am very satisfied with the food. The owner has made special accommodations for my allergies by creating a meal with a customized marinade. I cannot find any faults with them and cannot praise them enough. The staff are very pleasant and have a friendly manner.

During the lockdown, I decided to try out Chubby's since takeaways are allowed. When I asked if I could pay by card, the person at the counter just bluntly said "cash only" without even looking up. Given the current pandemic situation, it seems inappropriate for them to only accept cash. The lack of friendliness from the staff made the experience even worse. Additionally, there was no effort to promote social distancing in the small shop, with no signage or reminders for customers. It was only the customers' own discretion that kept them apart and waiting outside. I will not be visiting again or recommending this place to others.

I had a great experience at Chubby's! The special kebab was fantastic with amazing flavors and a fresh salad. The fish and chips were decent, though not quite up to chip shop standards. The chunky chips were tasty. Keep up the good work, guys!
