My husband and I had a pleasant lunch at The Fighting ****, enjoying a delicious pint of Wolf's beer. The portions of ham, egg, and chips, as well as sausages and mash, were generous and priced at a great value of £15. We received a friendly greeting and excellent service. A Friday night meal. Based on previous reviews we decided to visit this period built pub. Our first impression was a lovely welcome by Alicia, the young barmaid, who went out of her way in everything we asked for. Food was delicious and were large portions, which we both thoroughly enjoyed. We'll certainly be back here again next time we visit the area, thanks very much.
We visited here on the strength of TA reviews that liked the Sunday roast here and we received a very warm welcome from the lovely young lady hosting the bar. My long suffering partner ordered a Mexican vegetarian roast and this was spicy and wholesome perhaps a little too much chilli for her taste so beware if you’re the same and prefer mildly spiced food my pork and beef was nicely cooked, three big roasties and the vegetables were okay I would have preferred slightly more veg, if you expect more than carrots, peas and a few greens with your meat then you may be disappointed I enjoyed mine and thought the cost of around a tenner per plate was good value. The sweets we ordered were a succulent spotted dick with generous custard (ice cream an option too) my LSP’s sundae was a little basic no cream three scoops with a wafer and sauce she had pudding envy for sure. Her turn. The bill came to around £40 for the food and drinks, and we would definitely return as the ambiance is good, great service and the price was right good, basic home cooked food. So if you want a no frills roast then this should suit you.
Camped here, absolutely peaceful site. Food lovely and owners and staff great. Highly recommend, will def return
Another amazing meal cooked by Winfarthing fighting cocks. The salmon was melt in your mouth, there was nothing left on any of the plates, even the kids devoured their meals. Definitely a regular visit!!
