Love it!! Great people. Fun. Locals are friendly staff are great.
A one of a kind experience. We had fun and enjoyed good food. The service was excellent! Highly recommend the Mint potato for dessert. It was different and delicious.
First things first, our waiter Jason was awesome! He explained how the restaurant worked, where to get our food, seasonings, etc. He even patiently waited for my husband and I to finish up our prayers before setting our food on the table. I really appreciate that respect. So thank you, Jason!!! He had previously left the table before we said prayers over our meal.)Now, this restaurant does not look like anything like it does on the outside. The interior is more of a bar atmosphere. My husband and I were attempting to have a date night and were very overdressed. They have an all you can eat salad bar. We enjoyed that we got to pick out our meat and cook it on the grill ourselves. It was definitely different than any restaurant we had been to. All sides are a la carte. Oh, and unlimited Texas toast, which you also must cook yourself on the grill. They have a container of butter sitting next to the bread that you can spread on before putting your toast on the grill. All seasonings for the meat are around the grill. This restaurant is also reasonably priced. Now the reason for my 3 stars. My husband and I were cooking our food. Some children came up to make their Texas toast. It was fine. The kids buttered their toast and were having fun. No biggie. Well, their parents walked up with their steaks to put on the grill. The kids each grab their steaks and begin seasoning. One of them decided he wanted butter on his steak. No big deal, right? WRONG! THIS child took the utensil used to spread the butter on the toast to spread the butter on his meat. Then, once he was finished, he took he same utensil and put it back in the butter!!! Yes, he touched his raw steak with the butter spreader and put it back in the butter where others were using butter for Texas toast. My husband and I were mortified by the cross-contamination! This kid did this 3 more times while his parents just watched him do the same thing. Needless to say. We didn't get any more Texas toast for fear of getting sick. We did mention this to our waiter, Jason. Also, please be aware that there are no doors to the restroom stalls. They have curtains.Kid-friendliness: There were big families with children here when we came into the restaurant.
Great if you can cook very fun if you don’t know you have to cook your own steak or whatever meat you get
So this review is for people who don't like to cook. When the group I was planning dinner with mentioned this place and cooking your own steak I laughed and thought they were joking. I don't like to cook. I thought about just getting side dishes and not cooking anything but I ended up cooking some chicken, which was the cheapest entree I could pick. I figured if I messed up the cheapest thing I wouldn't be too upset. Well, they have a sign that suggests how long you should cook things per side. For chicken I believe it said 7 minutes a side. This was not accurate at all about halfway through the 7 minutes I figured out that that was going to be too long. I ended up with dry chicken which was about what I expected. When I do cook I use a thermometer to measure the meat temperature to figure out when things are done. There are no thermometers anywhere in sight so that is not an option. At least one other person in our group overcooked their food also. I did enjoy the twice baked potato and the mozzarella sticks I ordered as I knew I would be hungry. I will say the staff was friendly and helpful. I suppose this could be a five-star experience for someone that likes to cook. This place was just not for me. The building itself was cool though from a historical perspective.
