This is my first time visiting Chicago and this was one of the first vegan restaurants I came across. I’m so happy I decided to try it, it was worth it! I ordered the jackfruit tinga, jackfruit ropa vieja, smoky mushrooms and the apple cinnamon. My favorite was the tinga and the ropa vieja with the garlic sauce. I also ordered the butterfly tea lemonade. Very refreshing! I definitely recommend and wish this was in mo... View all feedback.
What Liv K doesn't like about Fons — Plant Based Empanadas:
Attractive colors but not super attractive pastry. I’ve been wanted to try so long after some farmers market. Only imperfect empanadas are 2.50 on Tuesday and others are like $4. The pastry part was a lot and either burnt or no flavor at all. Even felt like it’s almost dry. Little disappointed. View all feedback.
The empanadas are amazing and the staff are so friendly! Favorites are tinga, ropa vieja, and andean. Least favorite are pulled BBQ and the sweet ones, but I think they're all worth a try.
These empanadas are SO CUTE! They are delicious, creative, and plant based. I loved getting to try the different creations and how they are all homemade by the owner. The interior is super cute with a Ver clean and colorful design. Highly recommend!

Daniel served me a very good mushroom empanada. While I didn't get a chance to drink the Americano I ordered hot, it made a great ice coffee the next morning. Quick, pleasant service. Thanks for being open on a Tuesday!
Good empanadas with a great selection of vegan options as well as blue matcha drink
