What davout doesn't like about Pen-y-dyffryn:
The hotel is located on the side of a quiet valley, in a beautiful location. The interior is a little dated. The dining room is light and attractive but they only seemed to use two thirds of the available space so as a consequence we felt the tables were a little too close together. The menu is short and seasonal. My partner is a non meat eater, and the kitchen were kind enough to change a dish to accommodate her. Re... View all feedback.
Regrettably most of the food served was quite bland. Despite being nicely plated, none of the dishes tasted of nothing. The staff are friendly and service is attentive.
We visited this small hotel after recommendation from friends and we were not disappointed. The food was of the very highest standard, and served by friendly and helpful staff. The menu changes every day which we have not seen before.
Had a wonderful evening here with friends. This hotel is beautifully situated and very welcoming. The food was outstanding as was the service. A very special evening. Thanks to all involved.
I've read a number of the reviews. Overall I agree with them. The food is very good. The menu is set each day, so the chef is keeping everything fresh. The products are largely sourced locally from what I am told. The staff is extremely pleasant. We had some basic Italian Pinot Grigio. It was good. The menu set is priced out however at the whole meal. You get 5 courses for a fixed price. If you want to add cheese platters, tea or coffee you can for an added price. We did not add those. We had chicken and risotto as main courses. Overall everything was tasty. My reason for giving a 4 is because of the lack of ability to shorten the menu if you don't want to spend as much. With tip it was £120 for 2 of us.
This hotel offers wonderful service, food, the whole works. My wife and I were well looked after and could not fault the place. Will recommend this place to all friends and family.
