My family and I went to The George to celebrate my Mum's birthday. From the initial booking to the actual day, everything was perfect. We had a private dining room and even had a cake brought in, which was presented to us by the friendly staff. The pub itself combines traditional charm with a modern touch and is conveniently located near the village Green. The food was top-notch, particularly the fish dishes. My poac... View all feedback.
What Wine1974 doesn't like about The George Dragon:
Massively overpriced , tiny portions , zero service , will never return . We used to go to Bel Dragon places years ago before Fullers bought them and ruined them. The food here was terrible , the soup lukewarm, sausage roll overcooked minuscule it cost £8.50. Wine hugely overpriced View all feedback.
Couldn't fault this hotel they were very understanding when I got stuck in Westerham this weekend and gave me a room for free so I wouldn't be stuck in London while I couldn't get back up to Scotland. I can't express enough how thankful I was staff sat and talked to me even though they were working as I was very anxious not being able to get home on Saturday! Thank you! Alison
We booked a night at the George and Dragon in August 2023. On arrival all was well, we were shown to our very nice room up in the eaves. Nicely decorated and laid out with free sloe gin in the room. However it was stiflinlgy hot and we were glad of the fan cooler which was in the room. The problems occured at dinner where we had pre booked a dinner plan and expected to only pay for wine how wrong!!! We were overcharged for the wine that we chose, and had the smallest and tasteless crab linguine i have ever had for main course, it was starter size. We were also charged an astonishing £14.29 for service charge bringing the whole bill to £53 more than we pre booked extremely poor value. Perhaps though, the worst problem was that I needed an ice block for medical reasons and asked the manager to put one in the freezer for me for the morning. when I asked for it, the member of staff said sorry, it had only been put in the fridge!! Therefore no ice block. This is a shame as it was a wonderful building in a lovely location.

Very nice pub but was freezing cold so we sat and ate our roast with coats on. Food was average with only 1 roast potato 1 carrot and 1 piece of swede. Very expensive for what we had. A roast between £20-£25. Food was served luke warm so all in all a cold and frustrating experience. On the upside the staff were all lovely.
This establishment has the best atmosphere in Westerham and neighbouring towns, being well run and generally more than good staff. That said the restaurant is disappointing. Having eaten a here few times, the menu looks adventurous, even exciting. When delivered to your table the presentation doesn’t disappoint at all but most, dishes fall very short of their potential. Combinations of Flavours that should, but just do not work well, many almost too bland to to command medium pricing, let alone the inflated cost. Generally I would have absolutely no problem paying the advertised prices, but not at this standard and the “schnitzel” coating was just oil, drenched breqd that ruined a flavoursome fish. Such a shame, as the waiting staff are let down by the food quality. This all said it is edible, however really should be several levels higher than it is. Hope it improves as everything else is of a high standard.
