Many appreciate the welcoming atmosphere, dog-friendly policy, and attentive staff, praising dishes like the chicken and bacon chili pasta and homemade chunky chips. While some highlight memorable experiences with live music and generous portions, others have noted significant inconsistencies in food quality. Despite a few culinary misfires, regulars are optimistic about returning to explore a diverse menu. Overall, this establishment offers a cozy retreat for relaxation, with room for improvement on the culinary front.
We had a wonderful Christmas Eve dinner at this restaurant. The service from Rachel, Charlie, and Josh was outstanding. We enjoyed our meals of chicken Thai curry and fish and chips. The portions were generous and the quality was excellent. Wishing everyone a happy Christmas.
We had a wonderful evening at this restaurant. The food was delicious and the live music by Dave on guitar was fantastic. Our waiter, Charlie, was very attentive and accommodating. Highly recommend.
A tale of two halves. The restaurant is very elegant and the staff were excellent, but unfortunately the food was extremely disappointing - one of the worst meals I have ever had. As a chef, I never thought you could mess up pizza, but I was proven wrong. The pizza I was served was a complete disaster, to the point where I would have rather eaten a cheap frozen pizza from a supermarket. I also ordered pizzas for my kids, but they only managed to eat one slice each. My wife's lasagne looked and tasted like it was made by a child. Even if the food was free, I would not recommend it. Absolutely terrible.
It's a nice place in a good spot.....been a few times ....dog friendly ...staff very pleasant...drinks nice ...food was ok .. my partner got the chicken and bacon chilli pasta and that was really good...I know cos I pinched some ! I got salt and pepper fish and chips which was ok ...both were good sized portions...lots to choose from on the menu so we will go back and we will try something new .. as in food not wine
Much improved!! We often stopped off at the end of a walk from Crosby beach but have always felt really underwhelmed by this place. Service was always very hit and miss and food wasn’t all that at all. They have a monopoly in Hightown and it’s not helped this pub! Still got some way to go with several blips and gardens need a lot of attention could be gorgeous) but so much nicer in decor than it was previously. You can see it’s a well loved and happy family pub bouncy castle there total for little ones and a mini train. We sat out and enjoyed the live entertainment on the last Bank Hol of the summer with a large bunch of friends and all had a lovely time. Bread with soup and sandwiches needed to be much thinner looked like it was slapped together and needed some salad, but soup was nice and thick with decent flavour (carrot coriander). Friends had to wait a while for their order which was the curse of the previous incarnation with shoddy service but hoping that was just a small oversight. Coffees still awful though semi cold straight from the machine pet hate when you order a warm drink!!
