Probably in the top 3 meals I've had in my 60 years. Everything was extremely well done. You are going to pay for the high quality food and the outstanding service, but you will get value for the money. View all feedback.
What Simon Tan doesn't like about Walrus & the Carpenter:
Tried the steak tartare, calamari, and the crudo but was not really that impressed. Individual oysters are nice, though. Everything is extremely pricey for the quantity/quality. View all feedback.
I tried to get to this place forever and it finally worked out! They usually wait one hour (no reservations), but 8:45 on a rainy week night was perfect timing. The food was incredible quality local oysters, steactar, cheese, edc. It shared style, so bring a friend or two.
The surroundings are cozy and the music was relaxed. The oysters are fresh and served at the perfect temperature with suitable sources. I'm not a big fan of the Scallop Cross. Would be interested in Lachscrudo when it comes back. The beef was super delicate with perfect spice. We finished with delicious puff as dessert and were pretty happy with the visit.
Place was pretty busy when we were there. They took us to the waiting list, which had to wait 45 minutes. Luckily there is a brewery a few blocks away so there was no problem. Once in, the room is nice staff is super nice and helped with the decision to order what. And then the food, all fresh, concentrated to get the taste from the shells wether with raw oysters or the shells with their sauce. Coctails were also good to round it off.
Delicious oysters from the WA! Even the most brinies are near the sweetest if compared to East Coast oysters! To get to this place, follow the hall to the end! Also come 10 minutes before opening (for us it was 4pm) to be the first in line for a table! Oysters are honestly quite expensive to run They are $3 4/each even during happy hour, but very high quality. Had a few new unique flavors! My favorites were seawater and summer stone!
Honestly, it's a little bit of a spiritual experience each time I dine here, in the sense that it's absolutely divine. The oysters are impeccable, and they offer a large variety to choose from based on how briny they are. While there's usually a line waiting, you're almost guaranteed a seat if you're able to come right at open. They had an additional item on the menu yesterday: Billy's tomatoes. Billy, great job on those tomatoes.
