The food, drinks, and service are consistently good here. As someone who often works for long hours, I really appreciate any place that serves food late into the night. It can get quite loud, even when there aren't many people around; the music is usually turned up high, possibly to mask the sounds from the club next door. This makes it difficult to have a conversation without raising your voice. Despite that, it’s s... View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Red Star Taco:
Expensive for what you get. All the dishes we tried tasted mostly like pico de gallo or whatever topping was on the tacos, and the tortillas didn't stand out at all. Everything seemed like it had been sitting in the fridge for three days. I wouldn't return, but if you're really hungry, it could work. View all feedback.
I'm here three times, and after the last experience will not come back. Beverages are always good, but the service was always slow in my experience, which is not too much of a deal breaker, but our last server (small redhead with a Buzz Cut) was very rude for my friend and her friend. Immediately made a sarcastic comment when we began to order, and gave the girl attitude when she asked where the toilets were. Anyway, I didn't deserve the tip I gave him... Tacos were meh, a bit too much for my taste. Great location!
This place looks closed from the outside. If you're inside, it's busy with many hungry people. I can see why they have a great service and an excellent menu. The chips and salsa are very good and the salsa is a 2/10 on the spicy level. I have a Carne Asada potato that was excellent. My only complaint was the meat needed a bit more seasonal than that I would come back to this place to try other delicious items on the menu there.
This is a 5 star place for atmosphere, late night food, and drinks but it is not my preferred spot if you're trying to eat here sober. I love swinging by here after night out in Fremont when you need something salty to munch on. It's super easy to get a table and the service is lovely. However, if you're going here for a full meal, I'd advise against it. The tacos are dry and overly complicated without adding extra flavor. We came by during dry January because they had mocktails but it just tasted like overly sugary juice. Their alcoholic drinks are much better.Limited street parking only in this area. I usually have the best luck finding a spot along Fremont Ave and 36th Street.
I've been a long time fan of red star. I always sit at the bar and the staff is always friendly, attentive and chatty. I no longer live in Fremont but will make special trips from the hill for this place. Close to the Burke for easy stop off on a bike ride, fun ambience and 21 and up! I recently went in and they offer non alcoholic micheladas! Grab a patio spot in the summer and enjoy some tacos in the sun!
If you're looking for an authentic taco spot, this is not it. If you're looking for an experimental and trendy taco bar, this is the place for you! They have really unique fillings and a wide variety of hot sauces. We were seated in the back room which was fine- they have heaters set up throughout. Our waitress was friendly and the food came out fast. Good place to stop on a night out in Fremont!
