I recently had lunch at this restaurant and I have to say, it was a fantastic meal! I give the food, service, and atmosphere all a perfect 5 out of 5 rating. I highly recommend trying their Hot Sour Soup, it was absolutely delicious. View all feedback.
What Pomeroy Lafontinue doesn't like about Hong's Gourmet:
Had to swish away flies the whole meal, that happens, but the food was not very good. None of the sauces were favorable. Disappointed. They need to up their game. View all feedback.
We 've eaten at Hong 's lots of time have generally enjoyed the experience. We decided it would be the perfect spot for a post-Star Wars Not Christmas dinner. We approached the meal with lower expectations because it was a holiday. And we were not disappointed. Okay, we were, but we 'd allowed for that mostly. Still, while we didn 't expect the usual attentiveness we experience, we were put off that other parties--one without a reservation--were served well before we even got our drinks. We had to ask for every, single part of the meal--including a wine list and to order--repeatedly. One dish--walnut honey prawns--was barely warm, and the walnuts had been replaced with pecans. The other, a sizzling beef special, was okay. The only thing that came quickly was the check. It was particularly galling when an older couple seated next to us as we were finishing were treated with exceptional care and attentiveness, the server going over every aspect of the meal and bringing their drinks and appetizers promptly. We couldn 't help but wonder if our poor service had something to do with being two women dining together. Maybe it was that we 'd moved from one side of the front dining room, where we were placed in front of a drafty door, to the other, where it turned out we were in front of an equally drafty window. Who knows? But on a particularly cold night, this chill added to an overall unsatisfying experience.
Jimmy is such an outstanding waiter and all around great person! Never met such an attentive or courteous waiter. We had a party of 7, and the timing of the food coming out to the table was one of the best aspects (along with the taste! . We had time to savor each course before the next was brought out, which gives you ample time to enjoy the food without feeling rushed, or trying to make room on the table. I loved the potstickers, prawns with honey walnuts, and sesame chicken. We also had the tasty hot and sour soup to start. The new renovations are cool looking and the noise level is always low. Overall a great dinner in downtown Saratoga.
I have come here for years., brought 2 friends for dinner Saturday night. Very few customers were there at 6:30. We ride red won ton soup served 3 small bowls) and several other dishes, never got them after waiting 1.5 hours. Other people were served. I had to hunt down the server who I know and likes me, so I thought) to ask, I was to.d the owner wouldn't release the order. We ordered normal food! We left the restaurant. I ordered door dash two days later and was brought 2 out if 4 dishes. I sent the driver back. I don't know what's going on....but they lost 3 customers!
Group dinner, easy to seat 15 people, good service, good value for money.
