Excellent experience and service. Quiet place with great atmosphere. Remarkable food flavor and quality of local ingredients
The story of Lucia (owner and chef) is inspiring, not only for aspiring chefs, but also for everyone who believes that hard work pays off. She started over a decade ago serving menus del día (lunch menu) in Santiago de Compostela. Her dedication, food, and creativity were noticed immediately by top critics in Galicia and Spain. It didn 't take long for her to start expanding. A few years later, she gained notoriety across the world of haute cuisine after whining a Michelin Star. It is said that Lucia, herself, goes to the market every morning to buy the freshest ingredients. All her dishes are based on local ingredients. Her menus are a delight for the best connoisseur. She offers two menus: a long one and a short one. Both offer plenty of food, but if you are not in a hurry, it is recommended that you order the longer one. Wine pairing is outstanding. Their sommelier 's selection of wine is perfect for the food Lucia cooks. Besides, all the wines are top of the line, including some rare to find Albariños. Eating in A Tafona is an experience you will remember for life. If you are doing El Camino or visiting Santiago, this is a must. Lucia 's hard work has paid off and will continue to grow. She is on her way of winning that second star. It won 't be long.
From appetiters to the main dishes, everything was very nice. The layers of the food were obvious and interesting. However they could do better because the taste of the leaves was too strong for the food. Except the dessert and sweets were quite disappointing especially the green ice thing was awful. The staffs were quite nice though.
Unfortunately there's no option for 4.5 stars. We had the tasting menu at e128 which was superb. The wine flight wasn't our thing...too much funkiness going on. Would highly recommend food, but choose your own wine.
