The Coffee Bean Tea Leaf - Santa Monica

Continuing our epic journey through Santa Monica, the parents required a second dose of caffeine in the late morning. Having fought off trolls and lizard creatures on the 4th path and Wilshire, the family came to Philz tavern. Learning that this tavern had originally landed from the land of San Francisco, we decided to head in. The staff was great and very friendly, but more importantly, the caffeine infused liquid was perfection. Having endured the heat, we went for the cold brew liquid and it hit the spot. Will we be back? Absolutely.

They don't bother calling your name twice if you didn't hear it. Even with no orders pending, they just leave it up there. Easy decision not to tip here.

I remember Philz only for feeling like I was getting legally high off of their coffee : Not exaggerating. It is very, very strong and potent! If that's how you like it, this is a five star place for you! For me, it was too much. Very tasty, though. It's a good study spot for students!

Coffee is good but the customer service is awful. I and a few customers are lining up at the counter and the two people working there just completely ignored us for like 5 minutes doing their own thing even when they saw us. One girl was mopping the floor and she rather let the customers wait and couldn’t bother saying a “be right with you”. Are they really paid too low to be polite?
