:) View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about El Gran Manuel:
Ok, this place is owned by my uncle but since I 'm always honest in my reviews, I 'll be no different this time around. Great fish and I mean a whole fish, they don 't do strange things with this staple, they just fry it or bake it. The side dishes are very simple: coconut rice (absolute local delicacy quite dangerous for your arteries, but who cares?! , a lettuce and onion salad and the unmissable and always-pervading patacones (fried green plantain slices that makes for a hearty lunch. The other treat you can allow yourself there is the lobster that compared with what you 'll have to pay for one of those beauties in Europe is the real deal! I would not miss the fish soup even if it 's 40C outside, it 's totally worth the sweating! This is a family run (and I mean this restaurant that 's been lingering for over 40 years and one can say this is one of Santa Marta 's landmarks.
For locals this is one of the best seafood places in Santa Marta. The menu is extensive and features a great variety of fish and local seafood. I recommend this place to anybody who wants to experience local Santa Marta seafood cuisine. Prices are reasonable and the service is good. You will find avocado street vendors coming inside the restaurant offering you delicious avocados for COP 3,000 to have with your meal; the same applies with the cocada vendors offering his delicacies for dessert. I specially liked the atmosphere since there ' s big screen featuring music videos; this is a great touch providing that most places in Colombia have the noon news on their TVs at lunch time (which I find depressing).
