What a find! I think I have a new favorite Stomping ground for lunch when I am in Sanford, Florida or anywhere near. I had the carne guisada and a chicken and beef empanadas. EVERYRHING was excellent! And the prices are unbelievably reasonable. Between Lonnies in Lake Mary and now El Coqui, I never have to go anywhere else! View all feedback.

If you're in the Sanford area and you love Puerto Rican food, set time aside to visit Coqui. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful, and the (what feels like) endless food options will satisfy your hunger. The interior is very clean and feels quite cozy inside. You can tell the owners really care about their customers and their shop. You will not regret visiting this restaurant!
The quality of the food was excellent but the customer service was even more impressive. Jay (not sure if he was part owner but he took orders behind the counter) was incredibly polite and patiently explained the menu items since I didn't speak Spanish. I was very happy with my dining experience at this restaurant and wish them continued success!
This rating is based solely on what I tried. I liked it. I had the Asopao de Pollo and Alcapurria of carne, yuca and Jueyes. The alcapurrias have been the best I've tasted in the area so far. As far as prices I will say is affordable but not to return every couple of days as I would like. $3.99 for an alcapurria is a bit high in the range. They have daily specials and a good atmosphere. Not sure if it was the owner, but the guy who served me was really nice. Is not that big of a place but spacious enough to enjoy good food.
This tiny restaurant has great service, very attentive personnel and pleasantly surprising great tasting food. They told us that the waiting time would be around 20-25 minutes and, it was so worth it! We ordered Mofongo with fried pork meat, mofongo with grilled chicken, fried red snapper with arroz con gandules and tostones and shredded pork with rice and beans with maduros. What a feast! The mofongo was so soft! It?s been a very long time since we haven?t had it that way. It wasn?t salty or greasy but very tasty. Jay who was at the register was an amazing host. I?m definitely returning with my family and friends.
