Located just a short walk outside of the city, Mayachik is a charming restaurant that serves fantastic vegetarian cuisine in a cozy and relaxed setting. Their menu includes a dedicated vegan section, but many of their vegetarian dishes can also be made vegan upon request. The lentil soup, in particular, was absolutely delicious. View all feedback.

We have booked mayachik because they have advertised a vegan menu, but when we arrived and were asked for their vegan menu, we were told that they have no, so we have ordered the two items on their vegetarian menu that could be made vegan; the pasta with tomato sauce, and the cured vegetables with rice. both were very large portions that we could share but quite average in taste. the ground is beautiful, and there are three beautiful dogs, and cats on the ground, but do not expect incredible vegan cuisine. they also have a cake buffet every Sunday. how incredible if it were vegan!
The garden is quiet and away from the loud and lively streets of San Juan or even worse San Pedro. They have Guatemalan classics like Popian in a vegan version. Food is absolutely beautiful and amazingly fresh, especially Popian said. Some of the best food we had in Guatemala! The chili is very good, but not what I expected. More like a lens stuff. The staff is very helpful and can also organize shuttles, excursions... or accommodation in the connected eco-hotel (that is not as quiet as the restaurant as for any reason all dogs in the area bark all night). Open for breakfast. Offers different vegetable milk on its coffee menu Updated by previous review on 2023 03 01
Nice food made with great ingredients (had to get a bayonet from my plate). Was twice in 12h and would probably have gone back if it wasn't for me in the city less than 24h. I love vegan options here in Guate.
Eco Hotel with veggie resteraunt, which offers a dedicated vegan section on the menu that offers local and international dishes. We had the curry and the pepian, both were beautiful. They have their own gardens, of which they harvest a lot of ingrediance, everything is cooked by scratches and is full of taste 2 meals cooked by scratches for about €11 with fresh ingrediants ant sue
Mayachik is a fantastic vegetarian restaurant situated just a short walk from the centre of San Juan, among beautiful jungle vegetation and in a peaceful and tranquil atmosphere. The restaurant is located a 5-7 minute walk from San Juan at the end of a quiet gravel road in the scenic countryside. The restaurant is inside a rustic and simple yet charming wood building with a palm leaf roof. According to the website, it is an ecologically constructed building using natural ingredients and is also self-sustainable, which I loved! The grounds around the restaurant were gorgeous and it was a natural paradise with lots of lush tropical plants, trees and colourful flowers everywhere. Inside the restaurant, there were wooden tables with multi-coloured tablecloths and large open-air windows offering fantastic views of the surrounding gardens and jungle. I loved the laid-back, serene and peaceful atmosphere while being among nature. The menu featured a selection of healthy vegetarian dishes and traditional Guatemalan favourites. The vegetarian tostadas were super satisfying and delicious! The portion sizes were very generous, the staff were kind and cheerful and the service was fast and friendly. Eating a delicious vegetarian meal surrounded by such incredible natural beauty and in a comfortable and tranquil atmosphere, was just perfection. This restaurant is definitely a hidden gem in San Juan and a must-visit for vegetarians when you travel to Lake Atitlan!
