Despite some quirks, like a cash-only policy and closed Mondays, patrons rave about the generous portions and flavor-packed offerings. The seitan cheesesteak, particularly, garners accolades for its satisfying taste, while sides like fried pickles elevate the experience. The dedication to quality extends to sourcing bread, reflecting the owner’s commitment to excellence. With its friendly atmosphere and impressive décor, Jay’s welcomes loyal customers and newcomers alike, making it a must-visit for anyone seeking authentic cheesesteaks in San Francisco.
From what reason seems to be all that vegan options in the bay area offer, Mondays closed. we stopped here on a laune. for what it is and what it gets. $9 for a cheese steak and extra $5 if they want to ride. is waiting for us to eat. several sincean articles and a vegan hot dog also. nothing to write to home. they don't take credits, but there's a cash machine on the premise.
Love that sincean sandwich! they have no vegan cheese (they wear vegan mayo,) but the sandwich was so good that it didn't even need cheese! this was also the perfect portable meal for my long flight back to chicago. the hired were nice enough to pack my sandwich so it wouldn't get out and it's fresh. in retrospect, I would have bought two sandwiches before I left because that sandwich was so good. the taste of the since then was great and as it was cooked and cut, contributed a lot to the size of the sandwich. I'm sure if they vegan cheese added to sandwich it would be from this world. I'm back at my next visit!
"This is the best cheesesteak I have ever had, and I consider myself a cheesesteak connoisseur. Even my boyfriend, who always gets a cheesesteak when he visits Philadelphia, agrees. I would happily indulge in carbs for one of their delicious cheesesteaks. The decor of the building is impressive and the staff are friendly and funny. Although we had to wait about 40 minutes for our food, it was well worth it. This place is just that good. Will we be returning? Absolutely."
First time there and I enjoyed my meal. I would go back
Yo jays is the best cheese steak shop in all of San Francisco hands down. I like to eat and when I want a cheese steak jays is the only place I go. I drove from The east bay back to the city to get 1 cause anywhere else is just not comparable.
