Locally owned, friendly owners with great quality sushi at affordable prices! I really enjoy their sukiyaki and they also have a three item bento box for a very reasonable price $20 after tax and tip includes teriyaki, sashimi, tempura, gyoza, salad and rice! Come enjoy! View all feedback.
What Juan Aninao doesn't like about Fujiyama-ya Japanese:
The miso soup was decent, but the so-called "salad" was just chunks of iceberg lettuce with dressing sloppily applied on top. My beef teriyaki consisted of thin slices of beef (which was acceptable) but was drenched in a thick, overly sweet sauce. The tempura batter was bland, and there were far too many items in the tempura serving.
Our total bill came to around $40.00 for two people, including two sodas, but even... View all feedback.
So glad I found this cute restaurant. It has a very small and cozy interior and very friendly service. This is a mom pop kind of restaurant so don't expect hasty service. This is definitely the kind of place you go to take your time, catch up and talk with friends while eating delicious food!My friend is vegan and she ordered the vegetable udon as well as an assortment of veggie maki. She said her vegetable udon broth was a little light in flavoring but otherwise delicious. She said the udon was cooked perfectly and she very much enjoyed snacking on the vegetable maki. I ordered the sukiyaki sashimi combo. The sashimi was so rich and fatty. Absolutely scrumptious! My friend and I both want to come back soon! Also, our waitress was an older lady, maybe the owner, such sweet and kind service!! She's the main reason we'd return to this restaurant : definitely come check them out!
Good local dive. Price seems very reason and the food is delicious. Friendly servers. This place could get crowded and the waiting period is usually around 15 minutes during main dining times. Family friendly atmosphere.
Long wait worth waiting for. I couldn't wait to go back since the pandemic. This place has been around for a while and consistency has been key. The reasonable and affordable dishes are downright delicious. They don't skimp with their portions. My cravings were more than satisfied.
It seems to be like a Sunset institution--I remember coming here in the early 90s when it first opened and it's been ages since I've eaten here. Not sure if there's been any change in ownership. It was crowded when we got there for a mid-week evening dinner; the tables were all occupied. The wait was brief--under 10 minutes--worth the wait. The prices are reasonable--you can order a 2 item combo for about $16-$18 it comes with a salad and miso soup. They have preset selections or you can make your own combo. We ordered teriyaki salmon entree, sukiyaki tempura combo, tuna roll and California roll, chicken teriyaki tempura combo. The combos are generous portions. My only complaint was the service, while they were good taking our orders, it took a long time before the orders for our table were completed. Some came sooner than others or only half of the combo was served while waiting for the other half. Overall, the food is still good after all these years. I definitely recommend coming to this neighborhood restaurant.
Tasty food in a comfy neighborhood restaurant. Service was great, and the prices were awesome!
