I have been here a few times, good for a quick work meal or gathering with friends and family. The price is very fair and it is an authentic Chinese place! The good Chinese food usually takes lots of skills, we do not put lots of spices when the ingredients are fresh. Looking forward to trying their Shanghai hotpot! View all feedback.
What Krajicek (teadrinker) doesn't like about Mr. Holy Gao:
Searched for Ma-dasao but come to a link called Mr Holy Gao. The restaurant owner must not want reviews. The rating is more like 2.5 Came here because it is close to work. Owner changed and food went south. My friend’s Hainanese chicken rice was too yellow. Was it dyed. Garlic shrimp was too salty. The chef must have a heavy hand on salt. Noodle bowl was ok. When we pay the bill, the waitress won’t let go of the hand... View all feedback.

The owner and staff are fun and friendly. The menu here offers many hard to find and unique dishes. If you like spicy food, there are a lot of options for you here, too. The food here is well prepared and very flavorful. This is not a greasy Chinese fast food restaurant. This is a sit-down restaurant that offers great dishes.
We were there for lunch today and quite surprised at the portions of each dish for $7.99 lunch deals. Literally, you can have three people share two orders if not one. Busy during lunch hour so there's a bit of wait time. After we ordered, the food did come fairly quickly. The shrimps are huge, fresh. Most dishes taste like home cook meals rather than restaurant food. They do not skimp on the ingredients. This is the freshest value meals I've tasted in a very long time. Must try.
Authentic northern Chinese food! Loved it and I'll definitely go there again if I'm ever back in San Diego! The staff was super friendly and large portion of food for the price. I saw a horrible rating saying the food is bad compared to China Town and I what kind of restaurants they went to. I guess they either went to the non authentic ones or the ones doing other styles of Chinese food. To me the Sichuan dishes and there northern dishes I got were pretty authentic. Enjoyed the taste from home overall.
