Juan Tequila Bar Restaurant - San Diego

The place was closed and Open Table still allowed me to make a reservation?! Also the place is a night club.

Food was great and so was the vibe. They had a great band playing.

Band was a little loud, but good music. Taco Tuesday deal was fantastic and totally worth the noise

We made reservations here here thinking it was a different place but decided to stay even though they had no record or idea a reservation had been made. The decor is nice but the vibe felt more like a want to be Miami night club with a live DJ a handful of young people being loud drinking (at 5:30 on a Sunday night). They do have a huge tequila selection but I ordered a simple strawberry house margarita they were out of strawberries so opted for passion fruit. There was nothing spectacular about the drinks pretty typical. The server didn’t seem to know the level of spiciness I’d the dishes even after asking the kitchen didn’t clarify much. As someone who doesn’t do spice (but hubby does) let’s just say there is nothing we had that was “mild”. The chips salsa were spicy even for my husband. We ordered the octopus potato appetizer which was good but it was literally 4 5 small bites of octopus probably 15 mini potatoes. The tacos we got were good hubby said the rice was nose wateringly spicy. Overall not a bad place but with all the other options in the area, not someplace I personally would go back to.

Because of tgelive music and general acoustics, I wouldn't recommend this for a dinner you want to talk through at moderate voices. BUT: we had a fun time regardless, the food and cocktails were REALLY GREAT, and the staff did their utmost to give us a good time. So yes: highly recommended!!!
