Everything on the menu is delicious! My partner is Puerto Rican, and is always excited to find a restaurant with the taste of home. We ordered appetizers to share accompanied with mojitos and loved everything we tried. We'll definitely be back next time we're in San Antonio. View all feedback.
What Alma Dominguez doesn't like about Luna Rosa Puerto Rican Grill Y Tapas:
I had the chuletas with arroz con gandules. One pork chop was seasoned, the other was not. They were deep fried to the point of being burnt. The arroz was so dry and flavorless. I had to ask for Tabasco sauce to give it some flavor. The hype isn’t real for this restaurant-the food is expensive and lacks flavor.I’ll stick to my Mexican restaurants that know what real flavor is. Update 4/1/23: Significant growing pains at the new location. Reduced menu, reduced sizes, and higher prices on almost everything. We understood that the new location would require adjustments, but it seems that the management is making choices that are less strategic and more out of convenience. The bougie, hipster crowd will expect more for what they pay for, and previous regulars are painfully aware of what standards existed at the last location. Chewy seafood in the paella, really dry cubanito. Probably no longer an impromptu weekend lunch choicePositives: the food quality remained mostly excellent.Neutral: eating here takes time. Between server shortages, wait times, and relaxed food preparation time, coming here with time constraints just sets you up for disappointmentNegatives: Sicker shock, our last visit was closer to $80 for almost the same food we got at $120; One of our favorite items, the plantains with sofrito dip, is no longer on the menu. The margaritas are $12 for half the amount. If you want to sit comfortably, ask for the purple seated chairs since the white ones are not great.ORIGINAL 5 star REVIEW: Always a treat. Delicious margaritas (guava w/chili is a favorite , plantain chips and the bacon wrapped dates are a must while you wait (and expect to wait since COVID has impacted their service times . All of the meals will impress, and the cubanito is perfect for a trepidatious kiddo unfamiliar with Puerto Rican food. Finish with the bread pudding if you have any room left (not likely, but one can hope!
Had a lunch/dinner at Luna Rosa this weekend. Everything about this restaurant was pleasant. Newly moved in to a new location. Located on Alamo Street, not Military Drive as shown in the Trip Advisor picture. Luna Rosa has been in San Antonio for many, many years. The new location is well thought out decor, relaxing color scheme and distance between tables allows for private conversation. Located on Alamo Street, not Military Drive as shown in the Trip Advisor picture. Luna Rosa is as close to authentic Puerto Rican food as you will get on the this side of the Atlantic. I had the steak and shrimp with mofongo, !Ay Bendito! . The steak was cooked exactly as ordered, medium rare, and the shrimp were perfect in a butter sauce. I 'm always hesitant to order shrimp as most either over or under cook, but Luna Rosa delivered. My wife had the amazing pork chop. It is huge, order one for two dinners or plan on taking some home. Cooked with the skin on for that chicharones/crackling flavor. I felt it was my duty to finish the leftovers for breakfast the next day... Add a Mojito and a Coco Love to brighten up the day. The staff are special as well. Very friendly and helpful. Everyone was smiling and sincere. Attentive, but not overly so, only there when we needed them. I think we 've found our new 'go to ' for Puerta Rician food.

First time in San Antonio, and we decided to explore outside the touristy area and found this spot... food was amazing, and the beer was cold. Super friendly staff! Did not have time to take a pic of the main dish...it looked so good i could wait!??Food: 4/5
