The Boat Oyster Bar was really good!! My husband and I were impressed by the amount of food we got for the price we paid. The whole place is well decorated, the food was delicious (I recommend the seafood combo platter and the gater bites). And our server was very kind and on top of it. Great 1st experience !! We came in pretty late last night, so the place wasn’t packed. We ordered the crab jalapeño poppers for starters, while I had the seafood platter to try and my husband got GRC?)burger. The poppers had an interesting taste to it, you could definitely taste the crab in it which is hard to pull. My seafood platter consist of fried fish, shrimp, oyster and fries can be substituted with onion rings by the way). It wasn’t amazing, you can have this cheaper elsewhere. On the other hand, the burger is something we will come back for, it was done right, it had jalapeños, grilled onions and was made really juicy with right amount of “greasy” to it. It was a good sized serving, we had to request for to-go boxes. Parking is ample and the nice thing about this grill/bar is how they designed the place, the decor is something new to admire. There was a cocktail menu that we didn’t really looked over, maybe on the next visit if were craving for a good burger. But a couple of tables next to us was enjoying a few rounds. The place also boost of a full bar. We already decided to sit there next time and see how the drinks and service will be like. I did enjoy our waitstaff the most, she introduced herself as “Whitney” and had made sure to refill our drinks regularly and had our order taken and out quick. If anything, the burger and the service From our waitress convinced us that we will be back.
Went here for lunch hesitantly due to the mixed reviews, but it was a good choice. The food was hot and very tasty. The service was decent enough. Waited on drinks in a half empty room with 3 waitresses working is not impressive. The place is nice and very original and that's a huge plus as long as they can keep it clean, the floor was slick and dirty. The price is actually really good for the portions that are served. I suggest the boudin roll appetizer. It's really good and flavorful. The pictures I took are of the boudin roll, fried mushrooms, my wife's cheesburger, and my ridiculously massive po boy sandwich. All of which were really good.
The boat offers a unique nautical atmosphere that strikes a balance between a casual dive and a formal dining establishment. We ordered Boudin Rolls and the Combo Seafood Platter with Onion Rings. The Boudin Rolls had a light flaky exterior and were packed with flavor inside. They had a perfect amount of spicy kick, enough to build but not enough to cover up your flavor or make eating them unpleasant. Would highly recommend if you're someone who likes moderately spicy foods. The combo seafood platter came with 1 huge fried catfish filet, 4 fried butterfly shrimp, and a handful of fried oysters. It was all great, but what stood out to me were the oysters. They were of all different sizes and tasted fresh shucked. The breading was not too heavy, had a gorgeous golden tone, and did not feel oiley to the touch. We couldn't have been more pleased with the food. I would highly recommend The Boat and look forward to trying them again my next time through.

Gotta be honest here ... after growing up in San Diego and spending the last 27 years in S. Florida I would have never guessed to try seafood in San Angelo. The calamari was unbelievable.. I've been all over the islands and this calamari is tops. The staff was attentive and enjoyable. Come on in and give it a try, I'm sure you wont be disappointed.
