We were recommended to La Saltimbocca and went twice whilst in Saintes. The food was simple ,but the sauces delicious. The Deserts , brilliant. The service and welcome was excellent. Was really impressed when i asked for a dish and was recommended that it was...not a dish we serve to foreigners. (Later learnt that it really was an acquired taste dish and that you needed to be very selective in eating it. So I was ple... View all feedback.
What Dorothée Julien doesn't like about La Saltimbocca:
Food was not good, but hey we've all had some disappointing diners and not wrote reviews about it. No, what made the experience bad was the owner of the restaurant. She (older lady) was rude in any way. She seated us with a nice table but once we ordered, we had to move to a table in the corner of the street. She was annoyed we didn't order the expensive wine, and made us know it. Don't go here. Places like this only... View all feedback.
The Italian inspired restaurant it 's in saintes old town; the place is not too big, about 20 seats, looks neat and clean; not too long menu to make it even shorter from the vogel flu epidemie, the get rid of the duck dishes....That was ok, but nothing big, we had an salat with goat cheese and a bruschetta for starter, and a green pfeffer 'soße fucks for pornstars for cuts.
We visited here as a family of 4. the waitress was militant and did not try to understand our order – despite the order in French and the menu options. drinks have not arrived. brot came after the main course was served as the...kill- nb it was not a busy restaurant. the food quality was as disappointing – not safe as they reached the alleged prices that decorate their front window.
Eating was not good, but hey, we had all some disappointing diners and wrote no reviews about it. no, what the experience was badly made was the owner of the restaurant. she was in any way rude. she put us in a nice table. but as soon as we had ordered, we had to move to a table in the corner of the road. she was upset that we didn't order the expensive weeping and made this known to us. don't go here. like these exist only because of unintentional tourist. the rest of the staff was generally nice, but obviously the owner feared.
Was suppose to go to restaurant opposite Monday and it was closed Had tourist menu liver and cheese tomato salad the ulcer was really good salad was ok. Mains was pasta and bolognese It was ok and tasty my steak and chips was fine. Deserts...were the best thing all home made so for 15€ each for three courses it filled a hole.
Given the name of the restaurant, we both tried the saltimbocca. It was a mistake. Whilst the sauce was reasonably tasty the veal was tough and undercooked. On the other hand both our deserts were excellent. The staff were reasonably friendly but the lady in...charge was not open to criticism and shrugged our remarks off. The menus were very confusing and the atmosphere poor although the restaurant was busy with tourists. On balance, I would not visit here again.
