Sushi lovers must go there , it’s a tiny place not very appealing from the outside but it sure is cozy from the inside. the food was excellent , i haven’t had salmon so fresh since i moved to montreal. they have a huge variety on their menu and their service is very attentive. I will definitely be a regular there : View all feedback.
What Achim Maier doesn't like about Gyoka Izakaya, bar a sushi:
Went there with family. The service is very good. Environment is also good. The food quality is good, but is felt to be a bit heavy in taste. I understand that the resturant has to make some adaptations to the local residents' flavour. They have a wine list, but mediocre. If you happen to be there, I recommend you try once. My third experience at Gyoka was as amazing ! This around I had a soup-meal chicken teriyaki! Just perfect. Mme Mao, the owner, is so genuine and attentive to her clients needs. For great food in a cosy setting. This is a must ! Cheers, Ps. Loved the wine list as well. Pinot grigio ruffino, my fav !
Our second visit in about a month, wide variety of choices not only sushi, which is nice to mix it up a bit.
A friend and I had a very good lunch at this quite new sushi place. The service was very good. They have a lunch special. I chose the 2 sushi plate and my friend chose the tempura served in a bento box. For starters we had a miso soup and a salad Both my sushis we're very tasty. I will definitely go back. You don't go there for the décor bur the food is really great.
New to the Saint-Lambert scene, Gyoka is a good addition to Victoria's street food offering. We already had a couple sushi bars in town, and some more quite close by. This one stands out.The sushis are really --I mean really, really-- good. It's as simple as that. Sushi lovers: go!Buy be warned: the available room inside and overall decor are a tad disappointing. (let alone the exterior that does not appeal to all - but at least it makes it easy to spot from the outside! So it is quite dark inside, and definitely cramped, especially the 4 seats at the bar in front. No wheel chairs there nor anyone significantly overweight... The back, well... it did not appeal to me much as it seemed so dark down there on that sunny lunch hour. Maybe at night the atmosphere is different. To test ;-)So one very satisfactory visit to date. Many more to come I'm sure.Good luck to this new place, well located, central to Saint-Lambert's commercial sector.PS Did I mention how good the miso soup was ?!
