Hunan Restaurant - Saint Joseph

Ate here for lunch today. No time to eat your appetizer before your meal is served. We got there at 11:30. Ordered crab ragoons and they were stale and tough. No reason to cook crab ragoons in advance. Only 2 other people in resturant. Probably won't go back any time soon, if ever.

Killer small town family owned Chinese food. I always love the General Tso chicken and lo mein. Fried rice always hits the spot.

So this isn’t a corporate chain! Hallelujah! Locally own by some very nice people. My husband and I have been coming here for years. The food is excellent, so is the service. People are friendly. The atmosphere is charming! Thanks Hunan, for being a staple in this community for so long!

Ok I had High Hopes as the only Chinese option left open on a Monday at 7pm. We Ordered several Favorites to try. Orange Chicken, Garlic Chicken, Empress Pork w Vegetables, Sesame Chicken, Crab Ran-goo, Egg rolls, and Fried Rice. The Good The Bad and the Ugly, if this place needed a title for a food related movie this would be it! The Good The Egg rolls were just that. As well as the fried rice. The Bad: multiple entrees were soupy with sauce. Absent of good fresh ingredients or flavors that grab you. The Bad: the empress chicken had a funky smell and didn’t taste that far from its smell. The crab ran-goo was crunchy but lacked good flavor. Also why in the heck did the sweet n sour sauce coagulate? Weird, but my appetite died today. As we did not finish our plates. And we we’re a bit deceived by appearance and reviews. I would give Hunan another try. But it would definitely be in person. And only one time. I cannot recommend at this time. Because I feel a bit robbed of my money for the price of a poor quality product!

Hunan’s is very yummy. Last time we went here, the service was great and the food was delicious. This time we came in 45 minutes before they closed and service was still fast, but my food seemed a little cold. If you eat in, they get your food out really fast, the tea is hot and so is the soup. They have great lunch deals that go all week. I really enjoy eating here. You get a lot of food for the price!
