As this is where Le buron du vieil abreuvoir gets their ingredients, it was a must to stop to get charcuterie and cheese for a picnic on the grounds of the castle. They have a great selection and can either prepare proper ardoise or you can bulk buy and prepare everything yourself (with a stop at the boulangerie next door for your baguette! . You could get lost with the selection but they were very helpful and explained the provenance and flavours of each items and help us select everything for the perfect day out!
L'etable is actually a charcuterie and cheese shop, with a few tables outside. We came upon it while walking around St. Germain, and a very good find it was. They offer plates of various kinds of ham, sausage, pate etc., with salad if you like that sort of thing. (Rabbits do. I don't. , The cheeses looked and smelled first rate.Everything was beautifully made, fresh and full of flavour and texture. There is a short, excellent wine list. The Rue des Louviers is quiet and pleasing. The prices are good value for money at this quality. The service, by a cheerful, motherly lady, was prompt, considerate and helpful. One can, of course, buy charcuterie or cheese to eat elsewhere, but a light, sit down lunch on a very hot day was delightful. We departed much refreshed. Highly recommended for both food and service.
Warm, simple and chichi-free restaurant, type bistro atmosphere. better book because room with about 20 covers. The dishes are mainly based on farm cheese and excellent charcuterie. products are fine in taste and excellent quality. In this season, you can taste the ete raclette. presentation of the dishes cares and warm welcome and good advice.
I strongly recommend the summer to dinner on the terrace: the street is very quiet and the products presented in the form of high quality plancha. It's very good and very healthy!
